None of it makes sense. Bet you might have to wait for a truck, or come in and find something wrong and it needs to sit in line at the shop, etc.............

Flexibility is a good thing. At least they are trying.

It does come to mind how much differently the trucking industry thinks about time off from work than anyone else in the world. When you really think about it Sat and Sun off X 3 weeks is 1 day short of a week off. I try to take a minimum of 104 days off per calendar year. I don't work for Swift though.

Might be a good thing for someone like me. I have a military retirement, and will soon be getting VA disability payments as well (at 50 percent the disability is on top of retired pay). Between the two, I'll be around $4,000/mo before leaving the house. That kind of a job would kinda ease me into a retirement. I'm kind of a work horse and don't putter around the house well.

I've found that trucking is about finding the niche where you like that type of work, hours and pay. That type of a fleet might just fit me, if not you.

Makes that quota a bunch of BS, because sitting in the shop shouldn't have to count against you.

Do they want drivers ignoring problems on their trucks making it a safety issue?

This is my 2nd day waiting to get into the shop when I should be at home right now. Sure, I could have kept driving the truck until the front wheels fell off, but I'm getting the springs on these fixed because there was a noticeable problem driving it.

They should make it so that you get 400 "shop miles" for each day waiting in the shop. I'll raise hell if they stick me into the fleet because of all this waiting.

You wanna sleep on someone else's mattress? Guess they put a new one in every 3 weeks. Who cleans out the last guys piss bottles?

I am a non smoker been driving my '07 Volvo for 13 months. I don't want to drive a truck that someone didn't know how to open the window on.

This isn't the "family plan" is it? We were told 12 days out and 2-12 off. Also have to leave the truck at the terminal (Atlanta).

FYI - Sometimes you have to do what you have to do too make ends meet. My husband has to go back on the road after 5 years out of a truck. No jobs. Nobody calling needing a drafter (he's college educated). We also have a 9 year old son and 3 dogs so....he has compelling reasons to be home but money to pay bills trumps that unfortunately.

UGA if he needs to make money then most likely this plan will not work for ya. I can tell you I am not on any family plan and here the past few months it has been hard to make decent money.

Maybe freight is slow or some other reason but I don't make no 40 cents a mile.

have you guys looked into a dedicated run where he can still be home on the weekends. I would think he would make more money than doing the family plan. I guess each terminal calls it something different.

I know for me I have to stay out for up to 4 weeks at a time to make up for the weeks that I don't get the proper miles.

Also if that truck is at the terminal everytime he goes home you will most likely have to clean everything out. Plans like this unless dedicated they usually try to keep the truck running. Dunno

Maybe Injun knows more about it. Good luck

Tell that to most of the truck drivers out here and not those who want to hold a steering wheel and sight see........

Money is motivation!!! Motivation means more money. More money means happier driver! Happier driver means profitable company

Never thought I would see the day when there was a family plan for trucking! What is the world of trucking coming too! next thing we know they will be painting all the trucks pink and come with On board babysitters!

Drivers that are forced into this plan now that is just plain wrong!

    Whats next???
