Please correct me if I'm wrong...but fiance's ranking is Bronze after a whole year? Rankings for company drivers run upward in this order: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Everybody starts out at Bronze. ...except O/Os and L/Os. We start out at 1 Star and work up to 5 Stars. Now, there is absolutely no way your man could make Diamond in less than three years. However. It really does not take a lot of effort to make at least Gold. I forget how many miles per month are required, but it's not much. That tiny tidbit of information speaks volumes. Please tell me he made some other rank at some point?
Last month nearly 2 weeks was wasted between the truck being in the shop and a 4 day layover on the Veterans Day weekend. That bumped me down from silver to bronze. Up until a few months ago I was gold, but this truck's shop time has really hit me hard. The day after I got the truck it went in the shop for a week.
I add more weight to a complaint that comes from a drivers wife. Sure she isn't in the truck. Sure she isn't the one that is sitting all day, getting her chain yanked. But she is the one that gets to hear about it, multiple times a day. Even if the driver is contacting the company twice an hour, trying to resolve the issue. I've noted several women who have posted with great frequency in this forum in the past, are no longer here. They just disappeared.....poof! It makes me wonder if the company their husband drove/drives for, had a hand in silencing them.
"report all crashes even if there is no damage." Then you can have mucho preventables, and never be able to leave Swift!
I'm a bronze, with six years service, but I don't worry about it at all, I have the miles to be a gold, but a lot of them don't count towards the ranking because they were fill in on the shuttle. When my division had all the Lowes and St Gobain we could handle I was gold, one of our guys was at the time one of only 2 platinum drivers out of Lancaster. My DM, FM, and the planners all know me and what I can do. Ranking? We don't need no stinking ranking!
Shop time and vacation time has not affected my ranking. Perhaps a conversation with your DM is in order.
Rug, I know you said this in an attempt to be funny, However, I was backing into a spot at the Pilot in Houston and needed all the room I could get. I was pulling up and tapped the trailer in front of me, just enough that the guy knew he had been nudged. He went ballistic, calls his company and the whole nine yards. Well I have no choice, I have to turn it in. I used the entire roll of film on his trailer and the nose of my truck, DOT numbers, everything. I also had 3 other drivers, from other companies, state on my accident report that there was no damage to either vehicle. There is a little bit more to the story about how he reported it, but the end result was I was NOT charged with a preventable.
