I'd like to continue to improve my skills as a driver. Should I go back into some trailers to help achieve my goal? :biggrin_25523:

By the way, I know what you mean, I just don't agree with it. Learning from one of your previous accidents is a failure. We need to learn from OTHER people's accidents and not make the same mistakes.

learning from it after the fact is unacceptable in today's world.

"Hey, I killed a guy while driving drunk, but now that its said and done, I've learned my lesson!" TOO LATE!!!

I am happy you have it all figured out after one year. If you read what I said, I said that at least is was MINOR. Yes...its possible to become a better driver after making minor mistakes. As humans we learn valuable lessons from our mistakes.

I am thrilled for you as it apparears you will never have an incident ever in your career

teqntexas, okiedokie and HotH2o Thank this.

C'mon now, answer the question! I'm open minded, and interested in why your opinion is what it is. And thank you for being thrilled for me, I'm thrilled for myself! Hopefully I can keep it up.

Is a driver that's had a minor accident more likely to become a better driver sooner than a driver that hasn't had an accident? This topic has peaked my curiosity!

    BTW, 16 months, not 1 year! :biggrin_25522:

You are worse than my ex wife putting words in my mouth or assuming things from one little sentence. Let's put it this way. I had a backing incident in my first year. Tore a mirror off a truck with my trailer. That was over 4 years ago...and I stil think about it everytime I back. It keeps me from getting complacent. As I hope the OP has a similar experience

    HotH2o Thanks this.

C'mon now! I'm not really that bad... Am I? They were your words, I didn't twist em or put them in your mouth, just asked for an explanation.

since you put it that way, I'll put it this way.

Ive never backed into anything that I wasn't supposed to. I think about the possibility of damaging someone else's property every time I back up. It keeps me from getting complacent.

I am of the mind set that every single backing accident is preventable. Which it is...

which is better, a 1 year rookie that learned to back up after hitting stuff, or a 1 year rookie that learned to back up without hitting stuff?

No need to get bent, peaceful discussion! :biggrin_25519:

This was never a discussion of who is a better driver. I simply stated if the OP learns from his mistake, HE will be a better driver

FatDaddy, were you a politician in a different life? :biggrin_25523:

You win. You've got 4X the experience that I do. I'll got crunch a trailer tomorrow so that I can learn from a mistake and be a better driver.

That's were your reasoning is in error. You can only control your actions(most of the time)not others. The X-wife remark was a little overboard. :biggrin_25523:
