I hauled a load of hot rosin to a paper processor in Portland Maine once, they said I could unload on Sunday morning if I could get there. They were waiting for me and had called in extra crew to unload. I found out later that if the tank went dry it would costs thousands of dollars to get up and running again.
A grocery warehouse would of said see ya Monday!

I am in my Fifth week hauling tanks. Yep, much much better world! Like stated above....I went to a shipper a couple days ago, the gate guard called back and told them I was there to load..."...YEAH!!!!" was the response on the radio! Paychecks sure are a lot better too! Me happy.

Switching to tanks was the best move I ever made. These threads always make me laugh though. I love the guys that claim you can control surge, you can't, you just live with it. Lol.... "take off slow from a light" like you have any choice with a loaded truck!

Does that refer to a half full trailer perhaps?

The point is, you cannot control surge. Even the slightest movement starts liquid moving. I drove everything, vans, flatbed and tanker. I drove them all the exact same. Hills will cause surge, how does one avoid that? You just drive a tanker, all these fancy techniques that people advocate for are pointless and quite frankly, silly.

Also, even an empty truck doesn't exactly launch from a stop.

And when your really heavy you jam the brakes to get the surge really moving before you pull up on the scales.
