TA just raised shower prices really?

Yeah if you want to be in a filthy shower not cleaned in weeks with hair in the drain. Enjoy!

 

Maybe TA/petro can have free showers or really cheap if they go to gym locker room style shower. If Planet Fitness can run a gym. TA don't need to charge $15 for a shower

 

TA/Petro may now be worth it for those who can purchase 1,500 gal or more per month. You will hit the 3 or 4 points per gallon and be able to use your credits for reserved parking and even a meal (up to $14 I think). I am currently testing them out. I think I can purchase at least 1,500 gal per month. It will be very nice to reserve a spot for free.

 

I think now independent owner operators can benefit from fueling at TA/Petro, especially with the changes they made this past month. If you can fuel over 1,500 gal per month, you won’t have to worry about showers and be able to reserve parking spaces for free sometimes.

 

Planet fitness can run a gym on $10 a month. TA can't even patch a few holes in the parking lot.

 

Ya, I dont fuel 1500 gal a month. So for me its certainly not the best option. I get 4 points a gal at PFJ, a free shower daily, and I can use my points for reserve parking on the rare occasion I need to.

The one downside to using TA/Petro is they have a lot less locations compared to Pilot...

You must belong to a big fleet to be receiving 4 points per gallon at PFJ. Their website only appears to show 1 point per gallon. My understanding is that owner operators leased onto a big carrier should stick with their company fuel network for cheaper fuel. TA/Petro only makes sense for independent owner operators using NASTC.

It’s true that TA/Petro has fewer locations, but the way I deal with this is by either taking a quick shower in my 30-min break, or waiting until a day I am very ahead of my load and can take a longer shower and even spend 20 min on a cardio workout (which is something new I’m currently working on and have been successful for weeks now).

Since I am now fueling there exclusively, it’s very easy to park my truck after fueling and take a quick shower. What’s also neat is that there is rarely any wait time. With PFJ, you need to select a big location with plenty of showers if you want a shower to be available in your 30-min break. But then again, you can mostly take your shower in your 10-hr break as they have the most locations in the US, followed by Love’s, and then TA/Petro.

TA/Petro you can't store up a couple shower credits from buying 60 gallons. You only get 1 Ultracredit per day no matter how much fuel you buy. So your get burned on a 34 hour reset. You will be paying $14.50 for a shower or use your points. That's 1,450 points for 1 shower. You can't pump 1,450 gallons a weeks of diesel. So you lose on that deal.

If you can get Gear 3 for buying 1,250 gallons a month we get x3 points. That is 3,750 points a month that 3,750/1,450 is 2.5 free shower a month. So 2 free shower a month. If you shower everyday you still have pay for like 2 shower a month. Keeping track of all that is pain and not worth all the work.

If you pump 20,000 gallons a year or get 20,000 points, you get UltraOne Platinum card then you can get 2 shower credits a day. It's not very good points system anymore. Who wants to keep track of all that ?

Love's give you 2 FREE showers everyday even if don't buy any fuel and x3 points once you reach Platinum level. Love's Platinum is 1,000 gallons every month. Free parking if you can find it. Kinda like old days of trucking.

 

TA/Petro rewards program makes more sense for those who shower every other day, or daily some days. The daily shower isn’t possible at TA/Petro anymore. They blocked this trick of fueling twice at the pump to get two credits. Only platinum members appear to be the only ones who can do it now.

I am currently only fueling at TA/Petro, and so far I have had plenty of showers, but not enough for a shower a day.
