I had a couple minor issues and asked the TA shop in Cartersville, GA if they could help me. I live nearby and figured I could let them have the unit for the weekend and I could do a 34 at my home. They said they were not allowed to drive trucks any longer and I'd have to stay in case the unit needed to be moved. I was there from 6pm until 4am and they called me 3 times to move the truck. I talked to another TA (can't remember location) and they said it was company policy. What a PITA.

A few shops are now doing this down here because they will not allow a mechanic to move a truck unless he has cdl. Most shops only have one guy that is licensed and that can road test a vehicle after a repair so stuff backs up waiting on him unless costumer is on sight to move their own truck. Some shops are still ok with moving them around on their property but won’t take them beyond that without customer present. Since TA is a grand central station most times with too much public in the way I can see them not wanting liability.
With the new cdl school law more shops are going to do this I bet. Gonna make it hard to hire a big truck tech if he’s not cdl’d otherwise.

All Loves on I15 won't touch the truck to move it.

On I 20 in Augusta ga you can pass a twenty to the dude at loves and he will do anything you need. Just can't leave him to long or you may never see your truck again.

    Similar to I35 in Laredo.
You park your brand new Kenworth at Golden Corral?
30 minutes later you are a bonna fide licensed pedestrian.
Your Kenworth is learning Spanish right across the border already.
I saw drivers in tears twice there in the parking lot.
Both Kenworth trucks. It may be a curse.

    sealevel Thanks this.
