Ha. Never leave evidence... Open the governor on a new gas drive out hookup coming out of Ft Wayne. Treat it right down to Ft Knox. 1st shady overpass pull up, break out the "resetting" tools, loosen it up a bit, toss a handful of dust over the "serviced"area with engine running/fan turning. Drive all alone...... Reverse the procedure far from home and nap to compensate for time gained.
For example you can join all these wonderful 1%'ers, who refuse to conform with all the little rules.. Sirscrapntruckalot - There is no good money, or bad money. There is just money. - Charles "Lucky" Luciano
I like a quiet work situation, nothing that a pair of pliers and speaker wire would not resolve. Snip until quiet is reached.
All of those so-called safety devices like adaptive cruise does is increase complacency. And complacency causes most accidents.
Oh, for the love of,,,don't they have bigger fish to fry? Heck, the worst we did, was pinch the return fuel line, and got a stern talking to for doing that, but not fired. It was part of the PM, the mechanic was suppose to check for that, but a 6 pack usually did the trick. Old time bosses were cool and knew all about that, probably did it themselves. When it was no big deal,,
These days with big companies, all of that is big fish to fry. With the OP covering up the sensor, that may have made he/she an insurance liability in their eyes. These companies get some discounts on insurance for having all these safety features. In this day and age, anything that threatens safety and their insurance costs will pretty much get a driver canned. The OP may as well have turned tmac governed truck up. To the OP, tough lesson to learn. On the future, make you just drive the truck. Dont mess with other people's equipment. They are paying you money to deal with these types of things.
Safety equipment they don’t bother fixing even when you write it up and complain lol. gotta love how some of these Big-Trucking Inc. outfits operate.
I just would refuse to work for any big OTR outfit like that ever again (OP). They don’t pay any better and make you put up with a lot of BS anyway. You have experience now and as long as your state MVR is clean enough and you can pass a whizz-quiz that is all many smaller operations care about. Try to keep your 10 year work history from looking like too much of a nightmare if you can also.
"Anything that threatens the safety of...." I love this. Don't you know the Carrier Big Stick Captain got canned for trying to assure the safety of his 5000 man crew this past week in Guam? He wrote a letter to command higher and allowed a copy to get out into our hands for which we own that carrier and everything on it lock stock and barrel. What do they do? Can him.
