I begin to think that they want just young and dumb in preference to old and experienced out there, so they can control the entire industry. Not that all young drivers are dumb, but with jobs harder to get, they will be less independent. And dependence is the name of the game.

I think you pretty much have nailed it Red. And no, young does not necessarily equal dumb. But it very often equals inexperience in how to handle work place problems.

I think this is just another method the government is using to control the populace.
When we're hungry, we'll likely give them what they want...power and control.
I, for one, am surprised there haven't been more shootings of politicians in the last couple years.

REALLY! I thought the same, especially THIS one. I think the plan is to bankrupt the country in order for the New World Order to be ushered in. The powers behind the puppet are getting very active.

just because you may may or may not have sleep apnea, doesn't mean you cant driver otr for a living. they are measuring this with height weight and neck size. just because you overweight doesn't necessarily mean you have sleep apnea.thin people can have it also. this a common myth.I have osa a type of sleep apnea and I am also a type 2 diabetic which is controlled with meds. What the dot requires is that i use it at least 4 hours a nite, in which i do.I went threw primes orientation I was diagnosed with it I gave them 300.00 as a down payment on the sleep study, the total cost is 1970.00 if you do have and they deduct 55.00 out of my chk every week.this is a no interest type deal. if you do the study and don"t have it then it is just 125.00 for a good nights sleep.at orientation, i got a 3 month med card and today i passed threw my dot exam a got my year card.as long as use actually use the machine you will be compliant.I was before this like a lot of you out there very skeptical about all of this, and let me tell you I get a good nights sleep every time I use the machine it comfortable to sleep w/ my mask( i did have to find one that fits properly) and I use it all of the time not just cause i have to i want to. this is not something to fear like i did. you owe it to yourself and anyone on the road.

There is a trucking conference at the Ritz today, in Orlando. A lot of buzz going around about those tests !!

I believe they are coming down the on-ramp, and gaining speed.........

I also believe at least 50% of it is a big farce, and will be exposed before too long !!!!

BMI is a joke. When I was in the Marines the used this crap. I came out of bootcamp 5'10.5" 190lbs. with a 31.5 waist and was still considered over weight/obese. When I went back up to 220 lbs they said I was obese and wanted me out. Complete BS.
I'm Obese and I dont have sleep apnea and work a local job. I have to deal with all of this BS in Nov when I get my new Medical card.

I feel your pain man. I'm 57, 220 lbs. of mostly powerlifter beef at 5'11" with a 19.5" neck, 17" arms and so forth. Charts have been showing me as "obese" for many years, even when my bodyfat is as low as 15%! I guess there's NO chance for me to get back into trucking, even if things improved and I found a mom N' pop outfit that wanted me!
The VA has me on a CPAP machine now these last 3 weeks. It gave me energy at first and I felt better; my fatigue attacks lessened. Now I seem to have gotten used to it and I'm all tired again. They're not going to cure anything for me.
Incidentally, I made my first 2x bodyweight squat last week. 435 lbs. with a white light. ASH to GRASH baby!
The wife took the pic: do I look OBESE to you here?

Well what gets me is I got hit about my weight.

I had to go see the sleep doctor today.
Right away they start talking about the overnight sleep test.
I'm like Huh what??

So I'm guilty even before the doctor tests me.

Then they start talking costs and such for the machine.
I'm like wait a minute, you haven't even done they sleep study yet..
I feel this is rigged right from the start..
