Here's the thing. For example, I'm a Conservative. As far as stopping the spread - wash your hands and social distance. Don't be in large groups if you don't need to be. Makes sense. What doesn't make sense is wearing a mask when the actual box says it doesn't protect against COVID. The virus is aerosolized, and the vapor particles are tiny. If you can see your breath through the mask on a cold morning, then you're transmitting Corona. So in my opinion, based on that, masks are unnecessary. I mean they're so pointless even Fauci said to wear at least two of them, because one isn't enough. So yeah, I'm against masks, and that's the reason. It's not because I don't follow the science, but because I do follow the science. So remember when you're picturing Conservatives as a bunch of mindless anti-maskers that don't listen to the "experts". We're just listening to the experts that aren't on TV trying to get famous. We're listening to the experts that don't make it to the first page of Google with their "findings". We're listening to actual experts, instead of what Joe Sixpack says on his blog page. You catch my drift, I'm sure. Coronavirus is real, and it's deadly. But masks don't stop it, so why wear one?
I'm saying if the cases didn't slow, they probably didn't wear a mask, or stay home. Yall try to paint folks from California differently because of their views, but what makes you think there arent anybody living there that thinks like many of you?
Whether you're conservative or not is irrelevant. There are conservatives, moderates, radicals, and liberals that will or will not wear them. They will not eat green eggs and ham either, Sam I am....lol on a serious note, it's something that we aren't doing right. If this many people have died and got sick, we aren't doing something right. What you must remember that it isn't just the mask wearing that will slow the spread, it's a combination of things, all of which you mentioned in your post. So maybe that's where the discussion needs to be directed.
Remember when we got our first case? It started at one, then two, etc. Let's just say right then we shut the country down for a straight month. Full lockdown. Food deliveries to homes, and every household gets $10,000. That would have been cheaper in the long run than all this stimulus, and would have stopped the virus in it's tracks. And then after we opened back up, it would have started at one, then two, etc.... Point being, masks, social distancing, lockdowns, whatever - everyone who will get the virus will eventually get the virus no matter what. The point of all of it was to flatten the curve to keep hospitals from being overwhelmed. And we did that. Hospitals were laying people off through the entire thing. Absolutely nothing short of the vaccine is going to stop everyone who will get it from getting it. So go get the vaccine if you're worried, and throw your mask in the trash. If you're going to get infected, there's nothing going to stop it.
Well.....if that's how you feel on the matter. I'm not sure that everyone will catch it. It ain't a matter of being worried, just being cautious and aware. I will continue to follow the guidelines, the ones the health people study, who get paid to do this, who know more about it than all of us on this thread combined.
Mask or no mask, the damage is done. Maybe time to start looking through the windshield, instead of the rear view mirror...
