Yes we can if we want. It's worth it sometimes if your in an area that doesn't have any good loads except the Hazmat. It expanse your choices. Often Hazmat loads are heavy and not worth it if you have other good paying loads to choose from. That's how i see it anyway.

Have not done any TWIC loads yet but have heard they are a few out there you might run into..

HazMat, yes. TWIC yes, and it's really, really not worth the hassle. Only problem is, you don't know it's a TWIC load till you book it....SUPRISE!!!!
You have to get an escort and it's a major league PITA

You only need a escort if you don't have a TWIC card.

Ports aren't that bad..but they can be a PITA.

There are places you could go which normally require a TWIC card, but lets just say you don't have one so you hire and escort. You will actually get better service in and out faster with the escort. Port of Mobile is such a place. TWIC is just a rip off same as hazmat shake down.

Yeah ok..$90 for a escort into the port..each time.

Then you have to wait for them to take you to where you're going in the port and then wait for them to come back and get you.

I've been in and out while guys are waiting for the union longshoreman peons to come get them.

Cheaper to get a TWIC card..unless your hiding something and can't get one.

Hazmat endorsement has opened a few doors over the years...it's not really that bad to get one now that things have calmed down.

I have had a TWIC card for a number of years. Even when I worked in the North Carolina State Port in Wilmington, I only had to use the TWIC card once! That was so they could issue me a state port badge. I always had to have the TWIC on my person, but entry and exit was done with the state badge. My card expired yesterday and I highly doubt that I would invest the money in another one.
