THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE - DFO gets a truck and hops on Schneider's IC Choice Program

I talked to DFO two days ago...he is still home looking at trucks...said he is going crazy being at home. Sure he will back at it next week.

 

Oh we figured it was something like that. I did notice that he did give someone a thanks on here so I knew he was lurking around somewhere.

 

Let him know we were all worried about him...figured he fell into some W900 time warp or something.

Separate, the stuff you said "its about $$$$", from the stuff you worried about.

If stuff happens, that has sni/sfi telling you "your done", you are just as done regardless.
I submit, this is, moot.

In fact, less likely each day that goes by. Because your skills & knowledge actually increase rather than decrease over time.

You don't want them telling you what to do with your truck?
How is that relevant, to your business & $$$$.?
The truck is a tool. (yes I know they are really cool, or something).

The return of no empties anywhere as Wal-Mart, Target and Sears/K-Mart begin the seasonal empty hoarding, no response from box planners and 25 minute hold times with support shaft has happened.

So there is one trailer here being unloaded in the dock but there are 2 other SNI drivers here besides myself waiting for it and I'm not going to sit here staring at that dock light for the next 5 hours so they can have it.

I found a load out of the same place with a later pickup window and figured I will just take my 10 at this customer and then try again later to see if any empties have arrived. After sitting on hold with SS for 25 minutes she says yep there are no empties in the area, yep I agree with you that finding a later load is a good idea, but nope you have to wait for 1st shift to approve the removal of the load so you can put the other one on. So I will waste 2 hours of time that I could be sleeping waiting for first shift to arrive to call them.

I should have just stayed off for another 3 months.

Come to think of it, once my truck payment hits $100/week... that might actually happen. I fricking hate this time of year.

Feels good to be back on the road though, really missed driving my truck. Starting back out running through the night was nice... lots of time to think. Still haven't found a used truck that interests me and still haven't given up the idea of buying this truck that I have now. Got a month and 2 weeks left to figure it out.

 

I think you misunderstood my post a bit. My two biggest points were a., that if I were to purchase the truck that I am leasing at the moment, I would blow almost all of my "breakdown savings" doing so, leaving me with very little should a major breakdown occur and b., that leasing for another year through Schneider Finance is something that I do not want to do because they retain the title to the truck. Should SNI or SNI Finance decide to terminate my contract, they could also take the truck back. I have risked that issue over the past year of leasing, and as I pay down the truck further and further, I would lose more and more if that ever happened.

If I or the bank has the title to the truck, should SNI terminate my contract, I would still have my truck. That is what I want, regardless of whether I keep this truck I have now or buy a different one. I've put in my year of leasing and I'm ready to take the next step.

 

How can they take the truck back? You can still b leasing and b working at another company. As long as payments are being made they cant say ####. Yeah sni xan terminate your lease with them but not the equipment.

That is what I still owe on the truck if I want to buy it.

SNI's lease purchase is actually really good (compared to others which are really just a straight lease) in this respect... the lease payments do go towards paying off the truck if you want to buy it out. I started the lease/purchase for $80,000 on this truck. At the end of the year I still owe $54,000. If I come up with that $54k they hand me the title. Or I could re-lease it for another year to get the buyout lower. Or I could walk away.
