See if you can get full insurance with Progressive. Just Bobtail insurance, and then cancel when you get home. They will prorate what you did not use.

That's not a bad idea as long as I can absolutely cancel it as soon as I get home. I see both bobtail and non-trucking liability mentioned and used interchangeably a lot here. If all I'm doing is picking up the truck and bobtailing it home, I JUST need bobtail insurance correct? NTL is for both bobtail and pulling an empty trailer, and since I'm just bobtailing, I don't need NTL to bring it home correct?

I'm going to call SNI again tomorrowand try to get someone on the phone again. I fricking hate it when I leave someone a message and they don't call back. Typical from the joke of an office at Charlotte though. If I can I may just go ahead and get my full coverage insurance through them that way I can take the truck to go get serviced, drive it around to joy ride test drive, etc.

SNI probably wont do temp insurance because the truck hasn't been through their on boarding process. I would just get your own insurance and plates outside of SNI and then when you sign on only use SNI permits. This way if you leave SNI you don't have the same issue with being able to drive your truck to your next carrier.

I've looked around and just had absolutely no luck. Called all over, searched all over the web, no one wants to do temporary insurance. I started looking for just bobtail insurance but the prices are absolutely ridiculous. Progressive wants 2k down on a 10k plan split over 10 months. No thanks.

SNI can only transfer the insurance from my old truck to the new one, not let me keep both insured, so that wasn't an option.

Called another company which almost worked out until they heard that it was going to be longer than 30 days before I leased on to a carrier, so got the no from them.

Went and talked to my State Farm agent which I have the Deuce insured through (counts as a CMV because of the weight, so I thought they might be able to help), but got a no from them as well.

So I'm just going to have the dealer deliver the truck to me. He said it would be about $300 through a 3rd party transport service they deal with, although he is trying to find a way to bring it up here for me... we'll see if it pans out or not. If not, I'll eat the $300 and have the truck here. Probably by the time I paid for insurance it'd even it anyway if I moved it myself.

On the plus side, instead of putting recaps on as we discussed the shop put on 8 virgin Michelin drives! Nice. They got the windshield replaced and the fuel leak fixed too.

Why couldn't you immediatley lease on the new truck with Schneider and be covered by their insurance? Just like someone who has a few trucks leased on and hires drivers for them. Only difference is you would not have a driver at this time.
