I heard a rumour handheld dustbusters don't work well on 70's shag carpet where the stripper pole is mounted

I have a small shopvac that I can use with my inverter (when it decides to work) and it works OK, but you can only keep carpet so clean. Especially if it's raining outside and you just walked through and Obetz-esque gravel drop lot. On a rubber floor it just dries up and you can sweep it out with a little broom. On carpet the carpet gets wet, stays wet for much longer than the rubber, then absorbs the dust.

I guess if I was one of those neat-freak drivers that took my boots off EVERY time I got in the truck it wouldn't be a problem. But I may get in/out of the truck 3/4 times at most stops and I'm not taking them off that much lol.

At one of my stops in Huntsville AL this morning the guy was telling me that Wed nite they are supposedly getting some mixture of weather. But on a good note it was supposed to be about 70 degrees today. Now I am at the T/A in Knoxville TN and it is raining.

You laugh but I was this close (holds fingers 1 inch apart) to putting in wood laminate last spring. It's a good thing Lowe's finished unloading me before I could figure out the square footage I'd need.

I have carpeted all my trucks. Don't need to take off your boots every time you get in the truck, just when you go back into the sleeper. Floor mats for under the seats and gout good to go.

I've got a black and Decker hand held vacum/ dust buster that works really well. Charge the battery one a week, blow out the filter every 3rd use and my truck stays as clean as I can keep it with dumb trainees who don't understand that leaning on the side of a trailer covered in salt and road grime is a bad idea.

...and would look good with the stripper pole.

A long time ago, I bought a Dustbuster car vac. Just like the household, but runs on 12v plugin, with the usual car attachments. Works well and I never have to think about batteries. Not sure if the still make them.

Little Bit is carpeted, too. Picked up a remnant at the local furniture/carpet store & Himself (being both a Retired Marine and a perfectionist) cut both the pad and carpet to fit. He also made a template for the driver's side floorboard, and I have multiple mats for that side, cut from the same remnant. I just yank the mat out, smack it against something convenient - fence pole, truck steps, mouthy trainers - and stuff it back under the pedals. There is also no passenger seat in Little Bit (for those that don't know, Little Bit is a Columbia, and very limited on storage compared to the Brat)
