Hello Lady K & Klingon, Wanted to chime in and say hello. Spent a large part of last night reading your Posts from 1-whatever. Was very helpful in making may decision to go to school or not. Yesterday was still maybe, today its for sure I am.... Thanks. Going to call the Swift recruiter tomorrow. So from one Sacramento neighbor to another, "Good Luck and Drive safe" Gonna start out with my CDL then get the wife in the truck and see if she wants to do it or not. Either way, I just want her there, My little Partner in life. She's there through the hardtime and the easy. Thanks again you 2.

    Gratz on passing the test.
I hope they get you with a trainer soon.
Sounds like you are on the right track setting up the truck. Especially for a team. No reason to be stopping for things that you do not really need. Keep that left door closed.

Central use to do a pretty good job with truck cleaning. The only time I saw people get really nasty ones is when they got them on a recovery.
They always replace the mattresses. And sometimes you will even get a good mattress and not a cheap spring one.
I had a sealy posturepedic and it was really really comfortable.
If you are looking to buy one then check sleep dog also. They make them for trucks. Actually it is the main product they make. And with a good memory foam one you will be able to sleep better while the truck is moving. It will be a couple hundred bucks well spent.
I would look into XM or Sirus radio also.

    Lady K Thanks this.

Sweet!! I'm glad we could help - to bad we didn't get to meet up BEFORE we left Sac. Who knows though - we could always meet out in the 'real' world once you get rolling :yes2557: It will be so much nicer for you guys to have your one and only along... we wouldn't be doing this (again) if I had to stay behind. I have no idea how others are able to do it - and my hat is off to them!!

My husband is the same way. he just wants me along. I keep debating do I want to drive or just ride? I think it's good that you are going to go and then have her ride with you to make sure what she wants. I don't think we wives or spouses can understand fully tell we experiance it. And don't let her listen to the negitivity about a 'bunk warmer'. We all have to do what we have to do and if having her along is going to make you happy and you don't have to worry about getting home for her then that is all that should matter. And you have to remember you will be together 24/7 in a very small space. If you can handle that then you can handle this! Times are changing and we have to change with it in order to survive.Good luck to you both! :biggrin_255:

So if the wife is the truck driver, does the hubby become a bunk warmer when he rides along?! I wonder if he'll get wolf whistles? Will I get offers from female drivers for his company? (Sorry, couldn't help myself!):biggrin_2559:

That truck must have looked like a meteor coming down the hill. Must have been quite a ride to make the trainee fly home. Glad to see no one was hurt.

I'm sorry to hear about your trainer, Lady K. Keep the faith. It may work out OK. Just remember to speak up if something's not to your liking.

I never doubted that you would get your CDL. Way to go. All you have to do is get through the training and you'll be home free. Don't forget who will be waiting for you when you're finished.

    Congrats to Lady K! :biggrin_25514:

    Well here is today's update.
The truck is still in the shop. The Shop Boss says it will not be till Thursday now. LadyK may get out of here before I do...
They had to send the hood and a finder part out for paint and because of the rain it will take and extra day before they can get it back from the paint shop.
My checked in with my DM (I've been doing that every day... to keep him updated) He was had a load for me to get tomorrow but he is going to have to hand it off now.... :biggrin_25510:

Excellent work LadyK!!! Knew you could do it!!!

As for the bed, take Chromes advice. You will see what he means by using a foam mattress instead of a spring one! A lot less barfing while you are sleeping going down the road! Keeps you from getting the "nose tickles" too. That will drive you nuts!

Another thing I highly recommend for all of you is to get a 6' piece of carpeting, they have them at WallyWorld cheap. Put it in your truck and trim it too fit around the seats and shifter and such. It keeps the truck so much nicer. Do this about every three months. Just throw the old one out and replace. Think of all the peepee and poo and grease, oil, diesel, road grime, blood, spit, etc... that you step in and then get in your truck! EEEEWWWWW!!!! My wife kept a spray can of lysol disinfectant in the door pocket so when we got in the truck she would spray the bottoms of our shoes to kill the buggies! Another must have (at least for me personally) is driver and passenger floor pans. They are basically just mats with about a 1/2" to an 1"high lip on them so that mud, water, ice, slush, snow, peepee stays contained. When you go to the Streakin Beacon just toss them out while they wash the truck and they will pressure wash your mats for you too! Another little handy, dandy item is a dustbuster. Once again at WallyWorld. About $30.

Sounds like the nest is coming together nicely. Klingon make sure the shop gives you extra fluids (oil, radiator fluid, wiper fluid etc...) before you leave. Since it is already in the shop go over it with a fine tooth comb and get anything that needs attention taken care of. Also make sure that when you sign off on your check off sheet for the truck that you mark off and indicate any single little scratch, dent, nick etc... Any damage possible that you can find on the truck make sure that you document it so that you are not charged for it. As a team you want to make sure you really get everything taken care of during your shop time. It really hurts you as a team to have to stop and get stuff fixed. We would try to let the little stuff accrue until we had something major then we would get it all taken care of at once. When your truck is done BEFORE you get your preplan/load take your truck out for a spin and make sure your alignment and balance is kosher. If there was front end damage done it may mean your tires need attention. Make sure your chains are all tangled and accounted for before you take off! Check your glad hands too. In the winter time they can go bad. Make sure they are not brittle or cracked. Rubber seals all intact?

Sorry to blab just figured I would throw out some ideas to save you time.

    Congrats to the Klingon family!
