The Driver Shortage is a huge lie.

Temps are already dipping below normal here in the northeast. Want to make money? Book yourself loads in and out of Boston or NYC in another month or 2 until about mid March when everyone's running I10 all winter.

 

The reason for the driver shortage is due to CHP feeding the new guys to the tiger at Banning.

 

Because it’s against the law and exploits worker protections and fellow tax payers.

 

Dont forget to factor in those foriegn companies get tax free benefits for their operations Allowing rates to drop more because they can afford 1.50mi freight.

 

With the ELDs in the trucks there is no reason why companies cant pay detention and a fair rate based on hrs driven. Its data they dont want to use for good pay.

Winter will be here holidays are coming people will spend thanks to a strong economy. Rates will go up . Bank it because it will die down until spring again .

 

Companies hiring visa workers for tax breaks lowers cost . Just ask interstate they hired Somalians now look where they are

 

1099s drive down rates . Employers lower overhead with 1099s so they can pull cheaper loads and show a profit.

 

My experience as an owner operator this last 3 years, booking my own freight on the spot market, etc, is comparable to surfing. Sometimes you catch a good wave and hang ten.

Other times, it's so so, and sometimes you're better off just hanging out on the beach with a cold one and watch others wipe out while getting stung by jellyfish.
