I’ve seen that among the black community.

God forbid one actually try to better himself, lest he be branded an “uncle Tom” or a “sellout”.

At work in the drivers room heard one black guy say to another black guy that he was "acting white" for reading all the time and trying to improve his mind. How the heck is improving one's self a bad thing?

Frustrating as hell to hear "racist whitey" constantly blamed for the condition of the urban black culture, and this poisonous crap is never even mentioned.

A friend once told me "Don't be too good as something" people don't like it. A good example was in the Military. Broke the Military mile record in 1972. I was a long distance runner prior. To those who can excel me, I salute. To those who are comparable, and compatible, we share.. To the unfortunate; but still trying, I offer all the help they will accept and appreciate. But as to the others, they gonna be lonesome. Ole Ish' has pulled out and gone.. unconcerned with them.

Well said.
There are a lot of people who would rather argue than think.
Some people must have flunked Debate 101 in school. They think that just because you don't agree with them that you're attacking them.
They turn an otherwise peaceful discussion into a virtual riot. If a person does that enough we usually get rid of them.
Debate is fine. Personal insults and character assassination are not.
