Big government doesn't force anyone to sleep at different time every day.

    You do.

If you can't deal with it, get another job.

"you do" yeah only if a driver wants to maximize their legal HOS for the week, And actually make a living.

If an Amazon warehouse 'ambassador' shows up sleepy he might send a package to the wrong address.

If a driver is sleepy because Big Gov says his ever-changing breaks are the best way to conduct business, he might rear-end a school bus.

"get another job" thanks for your career advice. You missed your calling. I did hang up my keys Oct 13 this year. I make a lot more money and I am home every night

I'm sensing a LOT of butthurt with this new ELD mandate.

Mostly from those who forgot that you can still split break. You can still go off duty at the pick or drop. As long as you're not required to be on the dock stupidvising the load\unload. You can still do most of the things you used to do with paper, minus a few fudgins here and there.

And I guess I missed where it said that the ELD was the new pilot of this truck.

Planners and dispatchers want the current HOS much more then the FMCSA does. Some of you seem to not have the ability to see things from the other side of the fence. Not every driver is driving for and answering only to themselves. When you have to manage loads, trucks, drivers, and customer service and make everything come together, you need some sort of system you can count on and you can "hold over" your subjects to keep everyone in line.

I have pushed back against a overzealous dispatcher who thinks this load will get there on time when it's not. I don't even want it on my 5th wheel. It's like hooking onto a device designed to get you fired when you are late.

Bleating about the ELD or HOS services etc is not going to matter to these kinds of dispatchers. And I like to run as hard as anyone. Just hate loads that are late before I get a chance to hook on. Those should go by team.

Where did they come up with the 34 hour reset. Why not 36 or some other number?

Canada is 36, but 34 is a 10 and 24 hours so one day and a break. Easy enough.

I thought that's what everyone was doing already? i would drive all day and sleep at night and maybe if i felt a little tired in between i'd have a 15 minute rest or something.
