Software is software. When you have millions of lines of code you simply cannot check every function and every setting. The JV issue was a bear to find. I spend numerous hours testing it to be able to duplicate it. It has been fixed.

The JV issue was not found till 3922 had been released. I heard about it on TTR and with some information and a lot of driving it was found and duplicated. Now the developers can duplicate and fix the code. The code can be fixed, but as with any company it does have to go thru a QA process. I am sorry this one got through. You basically had to have 3-4 settings in a certain way to create the issue. Then the issue was not a constant. It only happened at certain type locations.

Maps - never will be 100%. Roads, restrictions change daily and it does take time in this age of electronic communications to get information into the DB. You have to be sure towns/cities are reporting to the State and the State is reporting to the Federal Government.

Restriction may/may not be posted by the towns/cities/states, but never the less, they are there. Just because another truck is on that road does not make it legal.

CO does have a HazMat routing, yet many do not know about it. Stray onto a US road instead of the "I" route and you may find someone sitting there waiting.

STAA/Non-STAA, RM does not control this. This if the Federal Government. RM has to go by what is published, not by what routes trucks like to drive on.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Thanks, but what are the start/stop locations? This way I can put in on the TND and see where it routes.

Just checked I got my Garmin Dezl in 2012. Its froze up one time. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it was good to go.

Its mind blowing reading about how many times some of these Rand units lock up.

Well since it was a public release and certain conditions caused the issue, then yes if those conditions were met then they would crash. BUT as stated many many times before, it is fixed and in QA.

I just happened to feel that the driver needs a way to resolve issues than waiting on an office that runs business hours. I was a OTR driver for 3 years. I started the RM support threads to help drivers resolve or find out if an issue is fixed or a route is causing issues.

You can Google anything and be amazed at all the issues that everybody is having with any electronic device.

Can we move on now? I admit there is a issue on the current software. I admit that the issue was found after the public release. I admit that it was found and fixed. I admit RM has it in the QA process. I admit I don't know when they will release the update since this is above me in the food chain.

Yes I have researched the 730 against the Diezel and other GPS devices and saw countless people complain about the issues with the 730. I had one, also got rid of it and now have a 520 on order. I do not care about lines of code, software issues, ect, ect.. I worked in quality control, on F18 generators to be exact, and customers do not care about the whys..They care about can they plug it in and is it dependable. In this case the 730 is not. Will it be someday? Maybe, but as of right now Rand has got to iron out the bugs before I buy it again - if ever. Do I hate the company, absolutely not. But They make to many mistakes they will lose their support and customers.

besides a few miss routes, and one unit that gave me the white screen of death, and the rather LARGE Farm to Market road issues it has here in Texas, i'll stick with my 730. i got po'd and bought a Cobra gps once, still have it as a back up and to use as an occasional coaster.

and if you don't use a map book, a version of google maps and some common sense ALONG WITH YOUR gps, then i have NO sympathy for you when ya get lost or get stuck on a dead end road. Drivers we're not living in the era of payphones and calling cards anymore. if you don't use ALL the tools available then you might as well not use any.
