You're right, my mistake. I just had the wrong company in mind when thinking of that issue. Either way, I'd stay away from both of them.
Here's a little known secret. If you have ONE year of experience with a good driving record, you can work for any FedEX Ground contractor pulling doubles from hub to hub, drop, hook, and book. I do it daily, 5 days a week and off two, every week. Easiest, best paying job you'll find out there with one year experience. I wish I did it 25 years ago.
Just a little FYI for those interested in a nice job. If your contractor has a dedicated run you know when you start and finish and go home every week.
And you'll make well over $50,000/year. I split 5,000 miles a week with my co-driver and gross $1300/week or more. Yep, it's mostly team operations, but contractors do have local solo runs between hubs.
FedEx ground does NOT own ONE truck at all!!
EVERY single truck, including home delivery is owned by an outside contractor.
Just look for a contractor that takes out taxes (NO 1099) and has benefits. Some just 1099 you and you're responsible for ALL taxes and insurance if you want it.
But most team operations pay around .50/mile, 2500 miles a week driving=$1250, plus D&H pay.
