Aren't all the issues basically all related to the EGR/DPF and DEF systems?. Something that can be said about all the engines. The basic guts of the Volvo engine is a good design and is well built. I just had dealings with TEC in Portland OR and the tech there told me that the D12 is a much better than the D13. The reason again goes back to emissions. The D13 has a much higher fuel pressure than the D12 and this is what seems to be causing the issues with the D13 injectors and cups. The Cummins has a common rail fuel system that appears to have cured the injector and cup issue. The tech thought that Volvo maybe be going to a similar design soon. Don't know if this is true, just want I was told.

I meet a fellow Landstar o/o there that was in for injectors and cups at 260k on a 2012 780 with the D13. This is the first repair he as had with the truck. Up to that point the truck was trouble free. His warranty expired at 250k but Volvo Corporate authorized the injectors and cups to be done under warranty and he just covered the labor.
