Makes perfect sense…. He was doin a relay with the tanker on that side street

 

He's out of the travel lane in both directions and could very well just be making a left turn. Yup, turning left or busting a nut on a freeway can be sketchy. But lots of things in trucking are. I don't see a problem here unless I'm missing something obvious.

 

Look closer at the photo, there is a frontage road on the other side of the freeway, with access to it.

On the other hand, many years ago when I lived in California, a guy did one in Madera. A bus load of migrant farm workers hit him and i think 9 were killed.

 

I expected more from the post with that title.

 

Megas make the rules for the lowest common denominator. The kind of driver that will work for a mega carrier. They don't want to play the odds. Skilled and experienced drivers can make choices based on their own experience and knowledge.

I've made a u-turn before. When I woke up from the hangover next day, the sun was still shining, I spanked the lizard I had fun with with. Basically, it was okay. Just don't run over stuff.
