Not true...A 100w Amp can bleed like a stuck pig onto other channels, and mess with TV Sets, and computers and intercoms. It just depends on the Amp. Most of the Home Made Type Amps that are built with CB use in mind have little if any filtering. They are built for one reason, To make the user loud as hell... Almost every "Bust" you see on the FCC web site will always be a Base Station. "Why?" Because a Base station can't move around for one, and second usually these guys will be in a neighborhood where houses are on small lots, so when they start talking on a CB that is hooked up to a Amp that has little filtering in it, it plays hell on near by TV's. But this was before the switch to Digital went into effect to. The Export radios that have the built-n Amps may bleed onto other bands, and mess with TV's, but again it's not the Radio doing it, but the Harmonics from the Amp part that's the problem... When the FCC guys come and track these guys down, and write up a report, the reports are always the same..."Guy running excessive Power on 11 Meter"...That does not mean he has a modified Export Radio operating on 11 Meter...Just that he is running more power than he should.
To prevent 10 meter interferance you would have to have a 11 meter bandpass filter I have one but few CBres would Localy I have never heard a CBer bleed over on to 10 with a 100 watt amp even one very close to me. By a basestation you meen FIXED but most " BASE STATIONS " are mobile radios on a power supply. How many run legal cb radios on this forum ?
To be honest...I have never herd of any CB bleeding over on to 10 meter band either...Just Tv's, computers, intercoms, speakers, and cordless phones. But then again, I don't know hardly anyone that actually talks on the 10 Meter Band to ask them...The only channel outside of the 40 channels on 11 meter I have ever been on is 26.915...And right now the radio I have in my Suburban is just a Cobra 29, so I can't e even go there...(least not in the Burb...The Van is a different story!) All it takes is a small Amp which has little if any filtering, and a radio. And you will bleed channels. And, since the more watts you run threw some of these amps, the worse they bleed, anything is possible... I know some of the amps I run bleed like a stuck pig at a Redneck Tail Gate party. I can key-up on channel 28 here in Dallas, and bleed over to channel 26 in Iowa when DX is rolling... Fixed mobiles on a power supply or a regular Base radio, it don't mater...Neither is moving around down the road... By the way...For what it's worth...In my Suburban that will put a 5000w Bird slug in the corner, has a Stock Cobra 29 Black Chrome in it...Nothing special about the radio...
We agree there are amps that can cause problems however since I have been on 10 meters for DECADES and only a few times heard a local CBer and both of them were very close you can bet the people who get caught were not on only the 40 cb chs. UNLESS your making a square wave generator out of your amp few will generate enough trash so they were tring to get caught ..... maybe not knownly. If you run 100,000 watts 0n CB CLEANLY it is not my problem as long as you keep your signal on the CB band that the FCC's problem. I run bandpass filters on any amp I run here and low pass filters on everything under 6 meters ( http://www.iceradioproducts.com/ ) Photo shows ICE 2 meter filter and a lowpass filter for the IC-706 . I also have a bird #43 my largest slug is 1,000 watts ...... Anyone stupid enough to put out enough trash to get people to call the FCC gets his just citation .....
