Quick tight spinning heavy trailers on concrete will instantly create flat spots ...

Easy to miss, unless positioned within obvious view.

This points "awarded" for warnings is what irks me as well ...

When i read this thread,i'm glad for 2 things.

1°we do not have a system whereby you are punished for a warning.

2°that EBS with diskbrakes is standard for us now(EU).
Since i sold my old ,drumbrake, trailer and bought the new one i haven't had a single flat spot.

There is no punishment for warnings. Well a company might have something but not one I would work at. All that happened is a record of one inspection where a tire was noted. No more no less.

Now if a company has a crap maintenance BASIC and is worried about an intervention over one tire maybe the system is working to get on crud carrier gone.

good answer driver.thanks! karma does indeed work it's way around to all of at us at some point in time.

mark or whomever just has not been driving long enough to have been hit hard at whatever yet.it will happen and the officer will either work w/you or not as most all situations are up to the discretion of that particular officer.
a south carolina dot ticketed me for a radar detector $100.00 if paid in 20 days via the mail while a guntersville,al. city officer that had dot certification gave me one for a radar detector that was $400.00 plus i had to go to court which cost me another $130.00.
thankfully those were before csa as in 2009 and then 2010 and I have upgraded my detector-

Somebody needs to read the law. FMCSA does not have the authority at this time to award points to a driver. Insurance companies can and do, and so can private companies. A driver has no official points. Only the company has government issued points.

This driver has one inspection, with a warning for a flat spotted tire, no OOS. That is ALL the government can legally report.

What's the point of having a radar detector ? Is speeding and getting that extra 30 + miles worth it

The points go on his PSP and can be seen by his current and a prospective motor carrier.

Line in the sand for most is 85 points right now....... until the driver pool dries up IMO.

Again, the PSP has no points, only a list of violations, date, and company. The government does NOT award points to the driver. Private companies do.

Their is no line in the sand at a point level. Insurance companies are still trying to determine that point which keeps changing with the constant law suits.

But go ahead and believe 85 points will end your life as a truck driver.

More loads and money for me.
