Haha. Im just getting ready to leave for Kansas City. It snowed here.. *grumble* and this new trailer i have Suuuuuuuucks! Im getting rid of it ASAP. It's a 96". Went over to Dearborn to get that coil, which is almost as wide as the trailer itself, i had hardly any room to connect my binders, and nearly fell off securing them.. I want my 102 back!!!

As far as the guy from that Joplin area, you can be home once a week. In order to have gauranteed weekends, he needs to be 'regional' BUT he can run long haul frieght and stay out for two weeks if he likes.

As far as percentage, or mileage, that would depend on his running for the most part, especially now. Freight is low, and isn't paying very well due to the fact that alot of companies are fighting just to keep their trucks loaded. Seeing the loads that i've been seeing lately, i'd say mileage JUST BECAUSE you might not be able to stay in the 29-32 percent range for very long during the winter time (revenue goes down), at least on mileage you will stay the same.

Mileage during the winter time, maybe switch to long haul and stay out for 2 weeks or more depending on the person.
Percentage during the summer time, and be home every weekend.

This is how i work it, it works well for me... I did go back to percentage, this time around, though. So i'm just running my arse off... I'm not doing too bad, but i'd be doing better on mileage.

Then again, i ran over 3,000 miles the last week i was out. Yes, it was legal..Because my week started on saturday! Good luck guys, happy new year!!!

I'm an experienced driver switching from a local triaxle co. to TMC Ill be heading to IA 2morow!! Just wondering if there is anyone on here that can settle the butterflies I'm having? I've switched jobs a number of times but now I have a child and a family and as bad as it may sound I'm a little nervous!!!

There is nothing to worry about. TMC is a good company.

    Stay off the grass.

Take your hat off in the classroom.

    Be respectful of everyone.

Don't go out and get drunk.

Don't get into fights or arguments.

    Do come prepared to learn.

TMC will expect you to work for your money. With your years of experience you will do well.

I must say my expectations aren't to high. The reason I like over the road is because I work the best by myself. Don't get me wrong I can get along with anyone, I just want to go out do what I need to to and not be bothered.

I would like to make between 45-50,000
Try to be home on weekends (live in Pittsburgh, Pa)

You can do over 60k your first year, especially with your experience.

You have nothing to worry about, best of luck, and i'll see you guys in Des Moines. I'll probably be heading through there this week to get my truck looked at.

Also, I've noticed steel loads are paying suprisingly well, lately. The loads I hauled last week paid me anywhere from 76 to 80CPM! What gives!? I'm pleasantly suprised.

I love the new fleet manager!

I have a question i'm currently a student # DDAI i was wondering how would i do as a rookie driver at TMC. we had a recruiter recently and as they all do make it sound as thought they are the greatest. i like the fact that i would be home on the weekends mainly for the family but can i make good money starting out with the percentage or would i do better with the mileage? which would you think would do me better in the begining?
