A lot of that has to do with where my home office is because mostly everything I go to pick up is at least 50+ miles to get thereTerry270 Thanks this.

That is about an average run coming and going. I do a lot of local stuff in and around NC TN SC and at least once a month go up north to NJ NY CT. As stated by so many here and myself I am limited to volume and vehicle types (no Inops) so all the bigger carriers and guys who are more established with Central can scoop up the better high paying stuff. I am trying to get in with Cars Arrive but they have a 90 day policy and the lady on the phone told me she could possibly wave it but still hasn't gotten back to me.

I wish there was some way for you to get the appropriate equipment.
You seam to be very dedicated with attention to detail.
You would do well I think with the right truck and trailer.Ryan S2016 and Terry270 Thank this. -
I appreciate that, as well all the feedback and advice from everyone on here. I realize my situation and these are the cards that were dealt to me. I believe my saving grace is lack of high overhead. My truck and trailer are paid for but in reality the value for each of them is not that much. Insurance is high, fuel is getting very expensive, and I am sometimes taking loads that I make just above break even. My goal which may seem to some as foolish, is to build a reputation, and a good one. I believe in this industry image and reputation is vital to success. You could have 100 trucks and trailers and if your business is known as a flop, not dependable unprofessional all those trucks become yard ornaments. I have faith I will make it. I believe I can it's just going to take me a lot longer than others do it. I have a goal to get a bigger truck and at minimum a two car trailer. If it's meant to be then it will happen. But I refuse to give up on my dream.
I am glad I joined this forum there are a lot of people here that are positive and helpful and don't sugar coat anything. So with that said. Wish all of you the best, be safe and most importantly Keep Trucking.brian991219 Thanks this. -
Sell that truck while it's still worth something and you can actually afford to buy a pre egr tractor and wedge trailer with that money and you'll have a setup that might actually have a chance.
-
I send that!!!! I stay out for 10-14 days and do a mix of cargo trailers and cars you can do well with a wedge and a single axle. I might know someone willing to sell one with 5K down and payments.

My guys always hit the weights and 2/4 are not CDL holding guys.
They also send our driver manager their logs each night to make sure they are correct. Like, in all honesty, we understand sometimes you don't feel like you need a 30 minute at the right time but you better have the 30 minute on there at the right time or you're gonna be responsible for the fines.
Also, super friendly reminder guys, DOT "fun" week is upon us next week. I heard they're going to focus on tires this year. Idk, but doesn't hurt to make sure they're good.
My brand new truck that started running jan 20, 2016 is over 60k. It includes some personal miles on it if you count from the moment you park trailer and head home w pick up. I guess that puts it at just over 10k miles/month? -
I do sometimes put a break 30 min on there sometimes an hour which is what I actually take each trip but sometime i forget to write it in. One thing I keep forgetting is my daily Recaps haven't done them but I don't know if they will say anything about it

btw ryan, if you ever want to get your cdl from brand new experience we found you can take the all the skills tests on the pick up and trailer combo. just has to have apportioned tags so you have to go spend a few hundred at the mva but not a few thousand at a driving school. and let's be honest, you know all your stuff to pass the skills test on your own truck. our guy tried 4 times on school's tractor and trailer and didn't pass, theyd bring a different truck each time.
