To All The Naysayers

i felt almost the same way he did for my first year, after I'd seen the entire US, i lost a little of the "novelty" of it all. i still enjoybeing BACK out on the road, but for now the circumstances are quite a bit different than what caused me to give it up for a year+
keep hold of that positive attitude if ya can OP, but TIME WILL TELL. adaptability, a thick skin, and not clinging to the "old ways" when the new ways come along will go a long way towards you having that same attitude years from now. OF COURSE, if the gooberment has their way, this job won't really be worth doing in a few years

 

Yeah, pat but I remember when you started. You wasn't telling exp hands to shut up because you had a whopping 2 months knowledge.

Been in and out of trucks my whole life.And now at 73 yrs.of age I am retired from driving.And yeah its a job,and not suited for everyone.Ya gotta apply yourself and do it just like any other job if you wanna make out at it.You cant be hanging around the truckstops,when yop have a load to deliver,or pick up.Yeah man its a job,nothing more,nothing less.Do it right and the job will reward you,do it wrong and you will be like so many losers that frequent this site.It is kinda nice being out on the open road,with no one looking over your shoulder.But reguardless you still have a job to do,get that load there on time,or get to your pick up point on time.

screw that we can just unionize everything and then no one needs to do anything on time or right. then when our pensions and pay get cut, we can just go ask the government for bail outs. i think thats how GM and chrysler did it

 

More than anything else, it was the people I had to deal with. I don't have a lot of patience with contractors who think they are God's gift to the world.

The fact is, if I had done this in my twenties, instead of my fifties, I would have kicked the hell out of a whole lot of folks, probably wound up in the hospital myself, and in jail.

 

Know the feeling. Last time I grabbed a hold of somebody and took them to the ground I could tell I wasn't as young as I once was...

 

hahaha i worked in carpentry for a while. you just gotta know how to talk to these guys they deal with a lot of stress from customers, town employees, inspections, their employee's, scheduling who is doing what, on top of the regular stresses of life. when i was working at a lumber yard sometimes i'd run into a ####y contractor but i would just keep my mouth shut because i fully understood their deal.

with that being said my job now driving a milk truck, the customers piss me off a lot. you get these idiots working at a gas station making what 9 bucks an hour doing a job a high school kid could do, and they piss and moan to me about the dumbest crap. some of the receivers at the grocery stores are pathetic too. show up passed their normal receiving hours and all hell breaks loss, call them ahead of time and its not even remotely a problem. they just have all these stupid little wants and needs, "why's the milk dirty" "last week there was a leaking bottle" "theres empty crates out back (buried in the snow thrown all around the place) why havent you taken them" "why do you come here at this time" "can you come here earlier" "im going to call your boss if you dont do this" blah blah blah blah in one ear right out the other i dont care.
