So in other words, given that information remained the same, I would make .54cpm before maint, repairs, etc? I think 6.6mpg would be a safe estimate on yearly mpg. I'm going to buy a Pete and I know they are as aerodynamic as a brick but I have heard some people avg 7.5+ and some avg 5.5 so I would assume 6.6 would be safe. I can't say that I have the lightest foot but once I started carrying the fuel bill I guess I would learn.

By the way, I really do appreciate all of the information that all of you have provided and not been grumpy old drivers saying, "Don't do it, you're an idiot, you can't make money in trucking" etc. Thanks a lot guys. :notworthy:

Yes all things being the same that would leave you $0.54 cpm. Here again I'm not trying to talk anyone into or out of anything, I'm just trying to make sure what ever you decide, you do it with your eyes wide open. My total operating costs vary a little from year to year, but off of the top of my head I would have to say it averages about $0.80 cpm long term, this year it will be a little higher because I have bought 10 tires, 6 sets of brakes shoes and 6 drums. I hang about 90% of my parts myself. I even wash my truck myself weather permitting. That $0.80 cpm includes truck insurance, parts and labor( you WILL pay some labor) no matter how careful you are something will break and I promise it almost never breaks in the driveway. The $0.80 cpm does NOT include a truck payment, (I paid cash for mine) and it does NOT include drivers pay (I'm so good even I can't afford me LOL). In my opinion (and just my opinion) driving habits and truck specs plays a bigger role in economy than aerodynamics do, I had a 2000 Peterbilt 379 with a signature 600 Cummins 18 spd. 3.25 rears LP 24.5's got 7 mpg IF I drove it like I had some sense.
