You only pay going WEST. It is called the "Escape from NJ fee".

To get from NY to Andover without a toll you will have to take the loop around Jersey up to the Tappanzee bridge (or however you spell it).
The toll on that one is West bound only. This will hook up with I-95 and get you around the city totally.
    Then 95 up to Boston.
depending on what time you get in you can go up 95 or you can go around the loop. But I prefer if coming from the south to just take 95 up. Are you going to the Market Basket? I haul to that place regularly. If so and you get there early. They have a parking area, it is back past the pumps for their trucks on the Left. If a yard guy sees you he will show you where to go. Also will let them know you are there. Which can get you unloaded early sometimes.
Or at least you can beat the mad rush for the doors in the morning.

Thanks CD...I will be delivering a portable generator...big sucker for emergency power backup or final construction before the main lines are activated by local power company...just a drop up in Andover, and exactly where and to whom I don't have that info as of right now. After that find the rental trailer wherever the company calls for it and back to the West.

The Tappanzee is east bound pay:biggrin_2555: always remeber you gotta pay to get out of Jersey.

Pay attention in Rhode Island. You gotta go around a bridge. Don't try going over it the fine is up to$ 3000 I think.

Tappanzee is$ 32.50 I think. Cheaper than GW but you have to loop back out from newark to get there.

Stay on 80 through Pa though. No sense in goig 76 your going south to come back north.

Run 80 all the way no toll and a better rd IMO, comeing out of Jersey back to Ma i would run up 87 cant remember the toll amount but around $10 to 84 only a $7.50 toll to cross the Newburg/Beacon and depending on the time of day traffic is alot lighter, any time i run to the dirty Jersey or back thats the way i go and maybe a half hour longer but if ya get stuck on the GW or cross bronk the extra time and miles to go around will more than pay for itself plus the scale in Darien on 95 is more likely to be open than the one in Danbury on 84. Run 84 to 90e in Ma to exit 10 rt 290e $1.50 toll 290 to 495n and Andover is right of 495. This going to Andover is the best you will miss Providence RI,Boston,MA and all of 95 in Ct.

I am still pretty sure that it is West bound pay only, and only trucks pay. Not a toll for cars.
I could be wrong I guess, but I do not remember ever hitting a toll going East out of Jersey on that bridge.....

I just checked and you are correct that it is tolled that way. I wonder why I remember it only being the other way. I knew that Newburg was East only. And I knew that the southern bridges are out of jearsey. But for some reason I cannot remember the toll booth going that way. I know for a fact that trucks are tolled going West/ south. But cars take it free.

You are thinking of 287/87 west/south past exit 12 near Nyack(?). That toll is trucks and westbound only.

Did you forget about the toll on 80 where 80/294 run together?
