Floyd was my instructor yesterday.. And the only part of Happy Jack I saw was about a mile's worth of it just west of the Bunkhouse! lol
So.. I got three words for ya: Buford, Bunkhouse, Federal, dirt roads. Oh make that five words. :biggrin_255: It was good. I think he knew I would get more out of cruisin the dirt than I would circling Lowe's a couple hundred times. (Oh, and the place I'd never been was Federal..) :biggrin_25523:

Sunday Sage Report: Drive #2 today. Supposed to be just straight-line backing and offset backing. I did both for a couple hours before I finally asked the instructor (Marshall) if I could PLEASE mix it up a little! He said I could work on my 90 degree backs.. I'm pretty hit and miss with those -- sometimes I get it right in (rare), and others I need to do 1 to 3 pullups (more often). Definitely need more work. Straight-line is.. well.. a breeze, and on the offsets I had to do a pull-up maybe once every 3 or 4 backs. (Any suggestions for the 90s?)
Toward the end I was getting frustrated and tired and started making more mistakes .. which made me more frustrated since I knew I could do it properly .. I feel like 4-5 hours straight of backing in one session is a little much (maybe a short drive thrown in there somewhere to mix it up?), but over all, a good day.

Tired tonight.. getting ready to hit the hay. :biggrin_25518: I'll try to remember to get on tomorrow night!

I remember doing those 4 hour straight backing sessions and it drove me nuts. LOL The 90's are what I had the most trouble with as well. Main thing that helped me was to set up to where I wasn't to far out. I was able to nail them when I was a little closer and made the turn with a little tighter radius. I would also stop about every hour and get out to stretch my legs and have a smoke. That allowed me to brush off the frustration.

Marshall is still there hey? He is so laid back its great. Its like not even having someone in the truck with you. I had him ride with me on one of my drives and he told me to go wherever I wanted so I just cruised around for a little while. With about an hour left of my drive I went over to the port on 85 which was closed. I practiced my 90's there on the actual course where they test everyone. That made a huge difference for me also.

Ah, that road, comes out right up the road from the Bunkhouse? Dang, that's a lot of dirt.

Rack Delay LOL. Now this is being posted from Bennett restroom, because I have to wait on a few more trucks to fuel before this load will fit. It's just to that point where I may get an alarm, but I did load all three because I knew it was going to be tight.

I thought Marshall was going to fall asleep on me one day LOL. I never road with Floyd.

Floyd watched me do straight line, offsets, and 90s one time. Think he was in the truck a total of about 5 mins and that was it for the rest of the days I practiced. We would round robin; straight, offset, 90, rinse and repeat for four hours.

That was January and hopefully not today. Lol On that day I was driving our old backup truck which has super singles on it passing trucks in the ditch pulling a load of unleaded gasoline. I had the white knuckle going on with that trip. Lol
