Thank you very much for the info, I was driving sat and sun, I arrived home last night. My average pay per mile is 1.18 with fsc, have you check what is your average? I remember my average pay per mile was better doing rail and port work so I did not have to run so much. I'm making about the same each week but to make 2,000 a week I have to run at least 3500 miles, last week I ran about 2700 miles and after my deductions I'll get maybe 1400, so if you don't have to run so many miles to make the same money and you are home you're doing better. Thank you again, I will call TC today to request more info. I'll let you know if I'll go with them so you can get referral bonus if they have it.

Well, I called them today but they do not hire from central Florida where I live, thank you again for your help..Pilot500
-
Sorry to hear that they wont hire in your area. I will post my avg per mile pay anyways since it might help someone out in the future. When I break it all down I am getting 1.34 to 1.39 a mile on average.
We have guys that work out of our yard that live quite a ways away, so they end up sleeping in their trucks in the yard all week long. WHY? Beats me, kind of defeats the purpose of being with a "home most nights" type company.
Good Luck to you pilot500!bgreyhart Thanks this. -
Thing that springs to mind is they're just to tired to go home. It'd suck to have a sweet gig then ruin it by having an accident in your personal vehicle.
I just got a "home most night's" job myself
. But I don't have a place to live near the job. So untill I can find/buy an apartment, I "could" sleep in a truck. It's cheaper than hotel rooms for 2 weeks.

i got a buddy who pulls for triple crown out of atlanta, and at his yard the guys stay sometimes because they gotta leave early in the morning and they live kinda on the outside of the 50 hiring radious so they dont want to drive all that way. they also stay because some of them are the regional drivers. and of them are just to tired to drive home.

kc8yhk, do you pay taxes on the $1500 a week you pocket or is that taken out by tcs?? im thinking of signing on in the minneapolis area next week. thanks for the help, and keep us updated on how things are going.
-
I hired a tax lady to help me out since I started out with tcs as a o/o newbie. She had me make estimated tax payments of $750 per quarter. All tcs will take out of your check is deductions for fuel, base plates, ect.
-
ok, so are the dollar amounts you show for week 1 and 2 after tcs made those deductions ?
-
the numbers I posted would be the gross amount. I would shop around for your own truck insurance though. I bought mine through tcs and it was a bit steep at $75 a WEEK. gotta do what ya gotta do to keep those deductions down

yep, i will check it out. They just called and gave me the o.k. to come down to ft. wayne on monday. I think im going to do it. Thanks again for all your help!
