    Thats not good for the carrier. I can only imagine the lawsuits now with that many people dead?

    The wreck was east of town. It's fortunate that the wind was apparently from the northwest blowing the plume toward less populated areas or it could have been worse. From the second article it seems that they still haven't been able to get in to check everything. In other words, it seems there could be additional casualties. Let's hope that's not the case.

    That's assuming the wreck was the truck's fault. It could have been caused by another driver. There's no information at all on cause in these news articles so we'll probably have to wait for the NTSB to say something. I like to avoid taking the billboard lawyers' perspective that it's always the big truck's fault.

    Wow the driver was airlifted to hospital but another trucker driving by died from the fumes .. evacuation up to mile away, that stuffs insanely potent.

    They were on 40 because of a accident on the big road so the state will assume some liability.
    I've refused to pass a fire or to take a dirt road with hazardous materials.

    Rarely is a impromptu detour/bypass implemented with haz mat in mind.
    Only you are responsible for the safety of the the load you pull.
