    Joe you are exactly right.

It is really important to educate people to understand that it's not all rainbows and farts that smell like roses.

It is important that we give good advice with all of our knowledge so that everyone is successful ;)

This forum has far more threads exposing how difficult running a truck as a business can be, than success stories. Especially by those who are lease operators.

Running a business of any kind is not an easy task.

Unfortunately, this industry has a very low standard for entry.

Bigger companies who prey on the under capitalised and inexperienced with promises of being your "own boss" and making significantly more money as a lease operator under their authority, are the biggest culprits in perpetuating this notion.

I mean consider that guy who hasn't even finished his training with Stevens Transport and they're already dangling their lease option to him.

    That is absolutely correct.

I think it's very important to help others have the right information so they can succeed or at least so that they understand what it is that the road ahead of them is.

That's why this forum is so great because we can help others as we also learn.

Bro, you are beyond successful enough to be continuing to be still doing what your doing.

For real, let’s find common ground. I’ve noticed a lot of side taking and factions developing lately. It’s gotta be more fun and rewarding if we can stick together.

Personally, I don't like hanging around people that are pessimistic about everything in the world and subsequently in their own lives. They project their own "can't do" mindset into everything it seems.

For some, it doesn't matter how much you try and coach, offer encouragement, show that there's a better way, many don't want it. Their default (for whatever reason) is to give you a list of reasons why they can't do it or criticize you for being unrealistic, judgmental, insincere, fake, and a host of other reasons.

Going back to the old adage, you can lead a horse to water...

Touching on these things as it relates to TTR and those, like myself, who have taken the time to share a lot of my own experiences in businesses past and my most recent trek into the trucking industry; my adventures over these past 5 to 6 years as an owner operator have been a positive one.

The numbers and emprises I've shared on this forum are open and transparent. I've not made them up or exaggerated any of it. It's data pulled right from a very organized format I've created myself to track what is happening in my own little business.

Others can judge, based on their own experiences (with a dry van) comparatively, or industry wide, whether what's presented is to be considered successful or not. That's cool with me.

What should not be done is to accuse, or infer, someone of lying, or who is just painting a picture that it's all just "rainbows and farts that smell like roses."

As though it's the obligation of a few select arbiters to warn the readers on this forum that if someone posts positive data and experiences, it's exaggerated at best, and narcissistic at worst.

The trucking industry can provide a wonderful and wide open opportunity for someone who is willing to put in the time and effort. If I were a younger man, I would definitely pursue the option of growing a fleet.

Is it easy all the time? Of course not. There's thousands of posts in the myriad of threads posted on this forum alone that attest to that reality. What business is there that is easy all the time? None!

I'll try and stick to the positive side nonetheless, because trucking has been "berry, berry good to me".

I definitely wish I could attain the rates some other people do but I am (try to be) a realist and will not despair when I can't. Sometimes, it is hard to believe the numbers some people are posting but "hard to believe" does not qualify for automatic dismissal.
In my youth I was also disappointed that a few girls did not want to date me dig me and chose to go out with fellows that I personally found inferior to me. I could not believe it, I was enraged, I was most likely vain, but it was reality.
