Oh man. I think I appreciate all these threads being combined, but shew! I thought they were incomprehensible before, nobody will be able to make sense out of this in the future. Probably just as well.
How the heck would your neighbor know anything about your employment or lack thereof? Idiots. Most of my neighbors don't even know what I look like.
Even worse, i went to covenant and they needed the same thing. Except they were letting people get notarized statements from *anyone* that lives in the same state. What the hell?
now some of you newer driver might not think it's necessary or even care but in this business a helping hand sooner or later is in fact necessary and guess what it dosent hurt a bit when you give it or receive it and just so all the interstate lawyers no IT IS NOT ILLEGAL to help someone. for example , your running down the interstate , it's 3 am not much traffic the next truck stop is a hundred miles away and all of a sudden your engine quits, there you sit nobody but mosquitoes to keep you company, now if a truck comes buy and stops to help would you tell him he can't because it's against the law, or he can't help because your scared of him, now some of you probably would do just that but if you did you would be the laughing stock of every truck stop for a 1000 miles not to meant the Rambo radio. it never hurts to help a driver or any one else for that matter thats what were supposed to be all about, thats what we use to be about and some of the old ways are still good no matter what you new people think and when your time comes to need that help i hope you think about what i am saying. there is not a driver on this forum that i would not help at any time for any reason and I'm old and tired but i ain't scared i haven't got that bad yet and i suspect it will be awhile yet. when you think about it and i mean think all we really have out here on the road is each other, we can't call mommy or daddy thats out there to far away so who else do we have to get the help we need , another driver thats who that is all we have. so the next time someone ask for help you might give this some thought and they don't want to hear it's illegal or its against the law or I'm scared or if it's a women she's just trying to get in my pants all that is pure nonsense, whoever they are there asking for help and i doubt they would ask if they didn't need it . man up and lend a hand it wont hurt a bit and believe me no one will even try to put you in jail and you new guys if it happens to be a women driver , she really wont try to rape you in fact most women out her are trying to make a living and there probably better at it then you. foods for thought . southernpride
SP - I could not agree more. Years ago I was coming back from a family reunion in GA driving my '62 Ford Convert down 75. As I neared Lake Panasofkee I noticed a truck sitting on the side of the road with the hood up, so I stopped. Turns out he blew a hose and while he had another hose, he didn't have enough water to top off the cooling system. Told him to hop in the car and we'd run down to Smiley's and get some water. He was glad I had stopped, he told me he had been sitting for 2 hrs and no one, not even the Yellow Jackets stopped. Long story short, we got the water, shook hands and both of us went on our way. I saw him by sheer coincidence at Biketoberfest in Daytona a couple months later. He bought me a cold beer and thanked me again.
