    But as they are both not 5th wheel attachments, they are not both considered "like-type" equipment.

    Apparently you don't know anything about the requirements for a class A, who gives a s*** if it has a fifth wheel plate or not, class A is based on a truck ànd a trailer.... Anyone above fifth grade level can hook up a fifth wheel... If this driver was to pull a end dump or a dump truck with a trailer that would give him the qualifications and the experience to be a more experienced class A driver.... I know plenty of drivers that have started in construction and became over the road drivers in a matter of a year with no issues on hiring

    The problem is the "Like type vehicle" requirement from most insurance companies. They don't allow us to count straight trucks with pintle hitch trailers, they MUST utilize a 5th wheel hitch.

    Well if you're pulling an end dump you will get all the required experience needed, its pulled with a day cab that has a fifth wheel plate, even though it's local it still counts as experience.

    That's why I said End Dump or Side Dump...
