Is the 2017 road atlas good enough to buy because the latest one 2018 is $60. I can get the 2017 on eBay for $28. Also is this too much to bring to CDL school and on the trainers truck? This blue bag, my backpack and sleeping bag and pillow? Thanks
Whatever atlas you buy, get the laminated pages. That's not too much stuff if you were training in my truck.
That’s too much to spend on an Atlas. For example my company has them for $10 in their store and at orientation. In my opinion that’s fine for a trainer truck. I brought a giant duffel bag. It had sleeping bag and pillow too. At first they look at you like you’ve got too much. But let’s see a trainer put his crap in a duffel bag. It’s hard to be a minimalist when u don’t know what gear u will need. So bring all u want! Screw them.
Go the $28 E-Bay Atlas. Little difference in a year - your 'trainer' will probably be glued to his GPS, You'll seem - 'old school', but wiser. There's some good threads on here on what to bring to training - remember the season we're approaching. Looks good to me.
get the 2017 atlas like they said earlier not much difference year to year. Im still working with a 2011 atlas. Youre not bringing too kuch stuff. just remember to bring a small tablet or something like that with the chargers as you will have a lot of down time waiting on shippers receivers.
People can hate me for saying this. But... I never used my Atlas again after CDL school and company training. I threw mine away.
It's pretty good for axle weights by state and vertical clearance off the interstate. I'd much rather open the book than ask a bunch of truckers for the answer.
