Hmm so don't tell them about my knee? Ok. Good thing I came here and asked because I'm waiting on a return call from my recruiter to talk to him about my knee.

Did you ride the bus to orientation? How long before you were suppposed to leave did they contact you about the bus info? I haven't heard anything since the call saying that they had found a trainer and orientation is the 4th. I'm getting concerned because I haven't heard from him since I called a couple of days ago and the only phone number I have is the national recruiter that I was talking to first. She sent my app over to Spokane. Maybe I should try contacting her?

Thanks again. I really appreciate the help. :biggrin_25525:

I have another question. What should I expect when I get over there? I know there's a chance I will have a roommate if they have another female but will there be a fridge to put food in? I'm on a gluten intolerant diet and since I don't want to take up any more room than necessary I'm going to be taking peanut butter and bread with me. I'm hoping to find some jelly packets somewhere so I don't have to take up any room in the truck fridge/cooler but may have no choice.

Will I be taken straight to the hotel or to the terminal first then taken to the hotel? I'm trying to pack as lightly as possible so I don't have much to store in the truck with the trainer.

If I don't hear from the recruiter today I'll try calling the national one this afternoon and see what's going on. I don't know when they are supposed to call with the bus info but I'd hate for them to forget to call and me miss training because I wasn't there and prepared.

I've been thinking after the physical testing if I'm sweating are there showers there for after we are done or do we just end up going back to class sweaty?

I really appreciate all your help and advice. I want to be as prepared as possible and y'alls experience really helps.

It depends on when you arrive in Spokane. If it's 2am, you might have to cab it to the motel. If it's daytime business hours, they may have a shuttle to pick you up. The motel may or may not have a fridge. Usually you hit the motel because it's late in the day, too late to get anything done in class and hit the terminal first thing in the morning VIA shuttle. DON'T miss the shuttle ! Double bunking is a good possibility in the motel. Get the phone # of safety in Spokane and pin down your bus ride times etc and confirm you're in the class.

Sorry But My Phone Is Capitalizing Every Word I Type and I Don't Know How To Make It Stop.

Thank You. Sadly I'm Not Going To Orientation On Monday. Western Pacific Told Me It Was Crazy To Require me To Have The Extra Drive. Now Because The Trainers Refused To Allow It I Can't Go unless I Can Drive By Tonight. The School Is Closed On Fridays So No Way That I Can Get That Drive In Until Maybe Tomorrow If I'm Very Lucky. Probably Some Time Next Week If I Can Convince The Trainers. Otherwise I Have To Find Another Company To Go With.

Curtis from TWT in Spokane said that if I did not have another drive with the 48' trailer in by last night I could not go to orientation on Monday and that if I do not get a drive in by the 10th (45 days from the end of school and the last time I drove a semi not including the drive test) I would not be allowed to work for TWT without a refresher course.

He says it's because if I don't do the drive I will probably not pass the drive test and it's a waste of everyone's time and money if I fail and get sent home.

The owner of the school said it was ok even though he thought it was crazy so I went to the school instructors and they said it was crazy and weren't doing it. The owner said they should just pop me in the cab while taking their students out if they had room and let me drive a few blocks then drop me back off. My instructor from school insisted it was only because I'm a female and that it's a ridiculous request.

When I told Curtis about this he said he normally worked with Portland office of Western Pacific not the Centralia office. I said that Portland was the first one I called since that's the main office and they said the same thing that they have never heard of anything like this before. He said "Oh really." When I explained what happened he just said see if I can get the drive in by Monday and call him then about the next orientation. But that he doesn't accept people after 45 days without a refresher course.

Well sounds like you should just go for a drive around the block and then start orientation next monday. Why did you wait more than 45 days to start working after you got your license?

I didn't. The 10th of this month is 45 days since the end of school.

I had the applications in before I finished school. TWT contacted me and started the process. By the time Curtis contacted me I was already out of school for a week and a half. Then he said he was going to find a trainer for me and contacted me a week later when he also dropped the bomb that I had to pay for an extra drive from the school. I tried to get the drive but the school wouldn't let me so I tried to contact him again. Unfortunately, he went on vacation and wasn't able to return my call until last night.

I also tried to work with other companies while I was waiting after the first call. When I got the call that he found a trainer I stopped looking at the other companies.

I have a call into the school to talk to them but they didn't call me back yesterday so now I have to wait until Monday to try again. I had every intention of doing the drive until the instructors refused. I tried a friend who drives truck but he's gone most of the time now and can't let me drive.

Yes!! Finally managed to get everyone working together thanks to the trucking school. My drive is scheduled for tomorrow at 7am. I will not have to find a new company. They even said they will call Curtis and let him know. I called Curtis myself just to be safe and left him a message.

    ramblingman Thanks this.

I just got off the phone with Curtis and he's going to check to make sure they still have a trainer then it's on for Monday. I just hope they don't expect me to dock on the initial drive since the school doesn't teach that. I'm a little concerned with this whole thing but I will be doing my best no matter what. :)
