Because most people getting into the industry don't look for or find a resource like TTR and believe what they're told by recruiters...I've only known one person that worked for them and she was extremely dissatisfied pretty much for all the above mentioned reasons...
U.S. XPRESS..... Please look elsewhere for a job..

What an unbelievable crock we were fed. At school and the recruiter told me 34 cents a mile. Took them four days to install an inverter and CB, no layover, no pay for waiting around, sent to Texas first trip. Paid only for one way, making about three hundred, no layover pay for three days stuck out there. Each pay check was a challenge, never any layover pay, I guess I am an endentured servant , not an employee, sliding scale I was told after the fact and never saw decent wages, even when I wanted to quit and drive the truck back to the terminal, I was forced to take on two more deliveries to get back or would be charged per mile to just get home. I consider that forced labor. I will go to the labor dept and possibly an atty and I will warn everyone I can about this unsrupulous company. Thanks for wasting my time US EXPRESS. We pulled back into the terminal and saw a repeat performance of people waiting around for days with only vending machines and couches for their trucks, just another repeat performance.
Spaces1965 Thanks this. -
so it took you 4 days to get your invertor and cb installed WHAT are you so specal that they should put you infront of the 40-60 trucks waiting to have things fixed...?
you didn't get layover pay for waiting realy why should they pay you for sitting and waiting to have non required work done to the truck. an invertor and cb are not rquired if they were they would have had them in the truck when you got it
you went from ga to tx and only got paid for one way..... last time i looked going from ga to tx was ONEWAY....?
you didn't get layover pay when on the road did you send a mac11 each day about layover/breakdown pay. did you get a lo #....?
yes people sleep their IF their truck is in the shop if it's going to be less than 10hr's if it's longer or their truck is at the dealer or waiting for a truck they are sent to the motel (after 1600) they (tunnel hill) have a van driver (0700-2300) that will take you anywere you want to go (less than 40 miles each way) so you can go to walmart or go out to eat so you are not required to eat out of vending machines unless you want to....
when you quit you can do 1 of 2 things park the truck someware and just leave it (you'll never work in trucking again) or you can drive it to where they want it the way they want you to. that truck doesn't move down the road for free, why shouldn't they charge you milage to just drive 1-6 states to turn it in....?
and btw it's us xpress not us express -

Well it coulda been worse. You could have been working at stevens for a whopping .26cpm. I drove for them years ago and the worse thing was their idiot dispatchers and flleet mngrs.

I was really looking foward to this company but talking to their drivers on facebook and here they all are complaining of miles for solos

Flood, you just confirmed my suspicion, you are, in fact ,a USX spokesperson. Everything you read about here is true. It happens still, TODAY. I have had a few of the same experiences myself. Trailer moving, etc, etc. There are some good things to say about USX, like the good bosses that I had in Parisi group. If it wasn't because of those bosses, I wouldn't have made the $ I did. It was a good place to start, but I am glad to be moving on. Just remember folks, the load planners make plans for loads to be delivered on time, how close you are to them. They don't see the miles you've driven thus far. A good manager made the difference to me, but I was fortunate. By the way, they(USX), left me high and dry, I had to pay my own way home after I turned in my truck. All the money I needed to pay my bills was spent on getting home. Yes CJEWEL, I averaged about 2000-2300 per week as a solo driver.

BY the way, if your truck needs to be pmmed, (preventive maintained), and you have to go to the shop, expect to be delayed at least three days. Any repair takes three days from a terminal shop, at least, depending on what it is. If you have a repair problem, chances are you will get it fixed more quickly if it is a warranty issue to be repaired at the OEM/ dealership.
