Not confused at all, is the Combination over 10,000# GVWR? If so then the answer is yes.

Thanks for a real answer. In my defense, I did make it clear that I didn't know and was just guessing.

I have a friend that drives a 26' straight truck, no CDL, but has medical card and has to keep logs. He does drive out of state.

Thank you all for the answers given. I will go get one. Was not sure If it was a requirement or not I did know that CDL drivers needed it but was not sure about the NON-cdl stuff.

The rules can be very confusing, but my current company has had several non-CDL drivers get nailed over the past year for not having a medical card. Needless to say, the DOT has nailed both those drivers and our HQ for this mistake. The 10,000# mark seems to be the most important part to remember. Good luck!

Seems like anyone driving a 1 ton fits that description, I am flabbergasted that even tho you are not required to have a CDL you are require to have a medical card. BUT if I take my truck down the road personally with no dot#'s on it no one is going to look 2x at it or even care even with the same load on the back. But put those #'s on the door and all of a sudden they want to know everything.., I am learning. I just don't care for doctors like everyone else in the world.

The only thing I had to bring was a bladder full enough to fill the **** cup test and a list of any medications you're taking. If possible, try to get the card approved for two years, but the doctors can issue it for only one year if they want to watch some type of issue/condition. Do you consider youself fairly healthy?
