No, just 34 hours once every 7 days, with two periods of 1 to 5 am.

That doesn't suggest she's any more ignorant than the typical truck driver, just differently ignorant.

They can control our off time, in a limited sense.

Maybe I go to Amsterdam on vacation and smoke a joint while I am over there. I'm not in the US, so no laws were broken. I show up to work on Monday morning, not being under the influence of anything. If I get sent for a random that day, I've just lost my job over something that I did on my off time.

Sure, I get the whole point behind it and can't argue against anything that keeps a driver sober behind the wheel.

I also get that it's a big jump between drug laws and mandating when a driver sleeps on their day off. But, I think it shows that there are situations where they make no distinction between time off and time on. I really don't think it's as big of a step to think that regulating what we do on our days off as most people would think.

Why not.If a driver is that tired, they should take a rest regardless.

They act like this is impossible. It's not. This is literally asinine. You can't take a nap because the computer tells you not to? How the hell is it in the 3 years since I had to be on e-logs that if I got tired I took a nap and it wasn't the end of the world? In almost 13 years, one been on the old rules, been through the change in '03, the change in '13, had my hand forced on e-logs, that I've managed not to fall asleep and crash during all of this? Not just me but literally millions of other drivers too? In all reality the fight about e-logs and fatigue is much ado about nothing. I get that they took flexibility away. I understand that. But the fact of the matter is, the HOS isn't contributing to crashes. The real story is the quality of drivers is at an all time low.
