I have taken the old US 35 a few times, all the way from right at I-64, getting off at the last exit before the new one for US35, coming out under the bridge and passing the power plant, up through Fraziers Bottom, and following until it joins the new road. I remember the first time I took that route from Dayton down to I-64 after the bypass was opened... in a few places I distinctly remember thinking "whoever it was that signed this off needs to LOSE HIS JOB". The bridge approaches were HORRIBLE. I don't know why people can't match the bridge to the road grade anymore. Most of the older highways have a very mild transition onto the bridge deck. Most new construction, it's a dramatic event, like hitting a skateboard ramp someone's kids left in the road at 70mph. I'm just glad I'm not in a cabover these days.
