    Husker,

that's funny about the case of meat, last yearI had a similar situation brought a load from Sioux City to Mechanicsville, there was one case and I had to sit on that little pulloff coming out of Supervalu waiting for a decision, eventually they said to take it back to Waynesboro and give it to the Salvation Army, don't forget the receipt! Weekend was good, well at least Saturday.

    Hawk,

Cor offered me a WI. on Friday I got back in on Thursday, but I declined took the Albany out yesterday and now I'm sitting in Dehli NY waiting to be loaded. Heading back to RDC.

@Hawk just call and talkn to Andy for the OK to hit a Beacon. I refuse to go to Eddie's for anything including a wash! The last time I did which was with my Pete, there were rocks in their brush which left scratches all over my truck. I spent 6 hours buffing them out & the whole time vowing to never go back! Actually I wouldn't go to Eddie's to get my washer fluid filled. You best bet is to have Dave, Jim or Cory do it in Sheldon or better yet go see Scott down in Great Bend for your clutch.

Oh yeah, almost forgot about the stupid box of meat! Did a pointless conference call with Denise and a gal from Tyson claims, she kinda scolded me for not being on the dock while I was unloaded. I just politely told her I am not standing on a cooler dock for 2-3 hours while the lumpers take their sweet time pulling product off. I waited another hour and a half and called back but no decision yet. Another hour goes by, Denise calls saying Tyson wants pictures of the box including the shots of where it is leaking and all of the tags, ok fine and dandy. Another hour and a half goes by, Denise calls to tell me Tyson decided to throw away that one case. There's 3 hours of my life I'm not getting back & didn't get paid detention for.

All I can say is, "Good Lord!"

You know I was just thinking to myself last week, "Wow I've managed to stay on an almost entirely daylight shift lately. Then I called in this morning for my load out of the house... Astra Zeneca Newark to Cardinal Health Groveport (my typical load out). Pickup at 1800, deliver 0715. I called Chris at Sentry (friendliest broker ever) and he confirmed it would not be ready any earlier. Just arrived almost an hour ago with 0:04 on my 11. This was all after an 0300 Monday in Harrisburg and a 0400 in Carteret, with a restart and shuttling my wife 4 hours Friday and 4 more Sunday squeezed in from 1400 Friday. Oh and I got one of the jacked up "CTC" doors here in Groveport where you have to blindside it in. I'm afraid to lay down now knowing they'll wake me up any moment to break the seal and open the doors for my 0715.

Two things, the first being good-natured ribbing, the second a serious question.

    1) Were any of you up near Mauston, WI this morning on 90/94 around 0800? A Van Wyk 660 was coming down the eastbound off ramp at exit 69 (where the Pilot and Kwik Trip with the vertical 18 wheeler are). I was about to make the left from the surface road onto 90/94 eastbound, and if you know that interchange, you know the off ramp has a stop sign and the traffic turning onto the ramp doesn't. I prefer to think it was because he really had to go let off some coffee, but for whatever reason, ol' Van Wyk pulls out right in front of me as if I had a stop sign! Good thing I was light and rolling slow.

    2) Serious question(s): How do you guys work with lumpers? How often? Lots of lumpers, or just a few? You pay cash or check?

Shame on you and thanks, depending on which part of the post you reply to. Drive safe.

(Oo, PS- do you get reimbursed for weighing the truck?)

well im in the good ol badger and i am piloting an 660 but i was safe and soundly sleep in my bunk that time of the morning as i was at the ambest at Exit 12 on 90 so im innocent lol...

for your second question for the drivers that run the midwest to northeast or vice verse its about 50/50... we bring alot of loads into front royal va that dont require you to pay a lumper, and then we got the meat loads that goes into the wal-marts, supervalu, and various grocery dc's, that require you at times to pay an ridiculous amount, (like the 180 bucks i paid for 5 pallets of meat from cargill at the champaign, il supervalu warehouse) then you have process meat straps from swift in worthington, mn that ive think yet ive had to pay an lumper fee... so it depends, most loads out of white wave in virginia coming back west require lumpers so really its just the luck of the draw

and yes its by check, but if you got an early morning delivery which i absolute hate this you have to take a guess and ask for a cash advance for how much you think the lumping charge is going to be..there's been times where ive been over 50 dollars and theres been times where ive been short 100 dollars!! so unless you've been there before its going to be hard to figure it out at first but once you get the hang of it you will be better off... and when you take that money off that card to pay the lumper as long as you turn in the receipt it wont be taken out of your check..

Hi guys/gals, I didn't read all the previous 36 or so pages I have two quick questions if you don't mind..

    1) How long is the orientation ??
    2) Where does it take place ??

I'd rather get the info from drivers rather than a recruiter once the call is made to recruiting they tend to keep calling !!

    Be safe, Mike
