I am not familiar with Mercer outside of the name. But WM is top shelf. Beginning pay for new hire is about $75k, good benefits, and treated fairly (at least most of the time). Volunteer turnover rate of about 3% (mostly retirees). I have been here nearly 25 years, make about 110K, work 5 days a week, get 4 weeks vacation plus safety days, personal days, and holidays all which pay my average days pay. How does that stack up to Mercer?

Who mentioned Mercer ? It's a O/O flatbed company. They don't have company drivers as far as I know

I do not work for Mercer. I wonder what they offer that is good enough for a 15 year WM driver to leave and go to work for them.

I'm sorry … I thought we had someone that was trying to chose between Mercer and WM. Over the years, we have had a few drivers leave in order to be OOs. Something about "being their own boss." I was "my own boss" for the 17 years before I came to WM. That is not something that I would do again knowing what I know now. But, sometimes when you just have a dream, you just have to chase it. I could never fault someone wanting to better himself.
