That's what I am hoping for... I love Texas.... nice people and wide open for the most part. Houston, Dallas areas well we all know that is a different story... but I have been there and done that before. Anyways cant wait to get going. Have my hard hat on for all that is going to get thrown at me.
noninetofive and drozzer69 Thank this. -
Why is Walmart still hiring so much? Are a lot of drivers quitting or just retiring? I keep trying but stupid little things keep screwing me up. Last time it told me application was incomplete. I think even if you put a dash where it don't belong they will discard your app. So when guy's are applying be sure to take your time and look over it real good!!

Retirements. Not many people quit. There are some, maybe problems at home or the road just isn't where they want to live, but 99% are retirements. I'd advise anyone even thinking about getting on to go for it while you have the chance, or you might be looking at many many many years before another opportunity presents itself. Now is a great time to get on with Walmart. Might stay that way for a couple years (not long considering how long the process takes) or a year or less...but you won't want to be looking back thinking 'I should have gone for it when I had the chance'.

so I have a question.... I live in Florida.... but will work in Opelousas Louisiana....start Monday.... now I plan on staying in town and not traveling back and forth maybe a flight around the holidays but not driving.... anyways will I have to get a La. license? man I just got a new one here in Fla. and you had to show like 5 things to get it. 2 of them being prof of residence.... a power bill and copy of the lease. I know NYVET lives in NY. but works in Pa. I am sure we are not the only ones.... any insight would help?????

You keep the license of your state of residence. You don't have to change unless you move your address to a different state.

Hi everyone, I've been "stalking" this forum for a while. My husband has his pre-trip & road test scheduled and is very nervous. He is not computer "friendly" so I do all the research and he reads what I find! LOL
I have a question, why is Smyrna so "undesirable" as I've seen posts to that effect on here? We live in Delaware and we are only 45 miles from the DC. Just curious if he is making he right decision or if there are issues in Smyrna that we don't know about? Don't want him to make a mistake. Thanks for helping! This thread has been a WEALTH of information! -
I'm not aware of any issues with Smyrna DC. Maybe because they service the Capitol? But those are set 'bid' runs I believe, though there are stores in Philly that many guys don't like going to, mostly due to traffic. I service long island and I love it, love the craziness! But many stores will be in New Jersey and lots of people hate Jersey. I'd say any DC will have stores and vendors we as drivers don't like, but that's part of ANY trucking job. I get 'borrowed' there, and the other DC's in our region as they shift drivers into DC's to help out, and I've had no issues with them, the management seems pretty decent as is the shop and their drivers (very friendly drivers there). Seems an easy going DC and lots of easy stores, doesn't seem at all 'undesirable' in MY OPINION from my personal experience the several times I was running their loads. I can't tell you any more than that, as I'm not out of there, so hopefully you'll get more answers from better qualified drivers, but if I lived that close to Smyrna, I wouldn't hesitate to transfer, knowing what I DO know about them (though I'm happy where I am). Hope this helps somewhat.

Thank you for the quick reply! He is used to the traffic situation so that shouldn't be an issue. I will let him know and tell him to keep preparing for the pre-trip. He's excited and we are both hoping for this chance as his current employer doesn't do everything above board and he is always STRESSED at the job and that translates to our home life. Fingers crossed!
