Seems pretty much like the policy we had at Kroger. Unless the roads were closed we were expected to hang iron and run,of course safety is always number one. I had a 550 mile turn that ran up over Mt Hood going out and over Willamette Pass coming back with a few small pulls down thru central Oregon. There were nights I chained my doubles three times, usually that meant a layover because even with the 16/12 intrastate driving rule in Oregon there just was not enough time to make the loop.

Claims are merchandise returns and salvage from the stores that are collected by bid drivers then taken by OTR drivers to regional service centers. The service centers process the merchandise and it goes back to the manufacturer for credit, turned into donations or destroyed. There are also pallet loads which are loads of pallets mixed with break packs (boxes) that the store fills after deliveries. Pallet trailers will go to either pallet yards run by third parties or back to the DC's for salvage and reuse.

Just in case anyone reading this thread is waiting to be called for an interview at plainview. That posting has been closed they are not going to be calling anyone. Due to a reorganization that's going on that dc is what I was told. Didn't want to see anyone wait any longer for a call that's not coming.

Local P+D drivers, claims drivers, grocery drivers, and dock clearing drivers all can be in day cabs. Some are home every night or day and some go to hotels when on their routes. Each DC is different but thats probably what you were seeing.

They must have lost some work because of the new realignment.

not sure I was just checking In with recruiting on some of the apps I put in and that's what they told me. Did find out Palestine texas is going to be calling for interviews before the fort pierce posting even goes off. was pretty surprised. they said they will be calling for interviews a week after it comes off.so hopefully I may hear something the week after next.

My lucky day. Picked up a truck that has been to the dealer to fix a problem that happened to it last month. Guess what! Problem still not fixed. So I sit on the side of the road 13 miles from the yard waiting for a tow. Oh well. First bad week since I started, I guess it was bound to happen.
