I 80 is your best bet. It is not very curvy, but it has roller hills...you have to cross the Applachian mountains in eastern PA. No tolls in PA....I drove from Scranton, PA to the Mississippi River on I80 the whole way, in 12 hours in my car. I drove 75 mph. I would not take any other route....I thought the road was in good repair vs. i 70, that was a lousy road, curvy, and a very poor road surface....I wouldnt take that route if I could avoid it.

No tolls in PA, and I dont recall any tolls elsewhere....but it has been a while ago.

80 in Illinois has 1 toll that's right at I-294. I definitely wouldn't classify that as Chicago.

If you cross the GWB into Bronx NYC from NJ side its $97 with EZpass, or I think around $110 cash. The Tappan Zee Bridge on I287 is now toll by plate both directions, the RFK bridge in NYC is toll by plate both directions, the Throgs Neck brdg is Toll by plate. When you cross the GWB back to NJ there is no toll. Our company has a post paid EZpass acct so we don't see the cost of the tolls, but I think Buffalo NY to NYC on the NY Thruway is around $130.
