If your info is correct then you are in Gulfport. Lots of hot shot down here. Most of these companies just need your truck they will supply the trailer. All of it would be flatbed work. Being a owner op with these companies is a good choice to get your foot in the door. On top of that you can run on your schedule. Companies to check out. Acme truck lines out of Lafayette,La( but they have terminals everywhere. United Vision Logistics. Both of these companies are huge and offer fuel cards. along with local and regional freight. But to do this kind of work you will need a TWIC card. Other companies to check out for hot shot Landis Transport,Anytime Hotshot,Roadrunner transport,Texas Hotshot. These are all good companies for the most part But Dont Offer Fuel Cards.Good luck with it.
And I also want to clarify that for the truck. Im not expecting a fresh overhaul with 0 miles and brand new sticker tires with never even used brakes. I stated I would like one with a recent overhaul meaning it could have 100k-200k on it. and also said newer rubber, meaning I would like atleast 70% percent or better and brakes also to be about the same.

Lack of OTR may not be as big an issue based on your situation. My insurance company will trade your military service as experience if you have been working with trucks and trailers AND have CDL. There are some other hoops to jump thru but not end of the world.
send me a pm joe3711 I can help you find a good truck for dat price. just talked with a guy who retired and had everything rebuilt on a 98 freightliner and he only wanted 10k
