You don't get bursitis from using a wash cloth or taking a shower.

Whoever told you that is an idiot.

wash cloth for a shower ? Just grab bar of soap and apply to skin directly. lather up, rinse. repeat. Truck stop showers get less than minimal cleaning. If it looks clean, good to go. Do you ever see the cashier run in and "clean" a couple showers real quick ? Like 2 min, bamm, done. OK driver here's your shower ! You know I'm right ! ! !:biggrin_25513: :biggrin_2559:

This post got my attention since I had a similar incident myself. I too am a driver who uses T.S. showers frequently. In early November I was going home after making a drop in Santa Ana CA and while driving I noticed cramping in my left leg, lasted a few minutes, then my left hand started feeling sore & I started getting what is called trigger finger, my 2 inside fingers started getting stuck in the closed position, again the trigger finger lasted about a half hour & went away but the soreness in my hand continued to get worse through out the day. I arrived home & was watching the football game & the pain got so bad that I told my lady that I wanted to go to the hospital. They didn’t do much but give me morphine for the pain & sent me home. Next day went to my doctor & he admitted me to the hospital & by this time my hand swelled up enough that you couldn’t see between my fingers, looked like those cabbage patch dolls. After a full week in the hospital being pumped with antibiotics they had to go in & cut my hand open from the palm in a T shape & clean out the infection, I had no cuts on my hand, no sores or open wounds but somehow got a infection in my hand that was located in my tendons that are surrounded by tubes, & these tubes would not let the antibiotics penetrate to the tendons thus rendering the weeks worth of antibiotics useless. Doctor said there was a lot of dry like blood substance in there & they cleaned it all up & sewed me back up again. To this day they have no idea how I got this infection, said it could have been a old injury or due to my diabetes. Lost 2 months of work & my hand is not the same anymore but I can still function on the job & more importantly ride my Harley on nice days like today here in Souther California

If you have ever had c-diff after using antibiotics you know that probiotics are necessary. Many elderly people die in nursing homes because of this. It will severely dehydrate you. After several weeks of antibiotics following emergency open heart surgery my wife came down with this. No one in the medical field warned us of the chance for this and she was within 24hrs of dieing before I got her to a hospital. 10 days in the hospital to get her just well enough to be discharged. If your immune system is even barely compromised and you need antibiotics please be aware that this can happen to you.

Use soap, no washrag and don't touch anything. Wouldn't hurt to carry a can of Lysol and spay the faucets, handles, etc. MRSA is terrible and deadly. Make sure you don't have it.

I imagine if you have an open wound then a staph infection could be easily caught in a shower. The worst thing I've ever caught in a truck stop shower was athletes foot. I have however taken a nasty fall. I was at the Tehachapi Love's in California a couple years ago and they had just finished cleaning the shower from the previous driver. They didn't wash all of the soap off the shower floor, AND they use softened water, so the floor was slicker than grease. As soon as I stepped in I could tell there was a problem, and as I slowly stepped over to put the floor mat inside the shower for me to stand on I went all the way down. Landed on my upper arm and thankfully didn't break anything other than a nice abrasion on my arm from the shower drain. Told the manager and he looked at me and said I should be more careful. I told him my phone in my shirt pocket just recorded our conversation and left him my name and phone number. Love's corporate called me within an hour and asked if I needed medical attention. Needless to say I never saw that manager there again.

I had used the showers for the last 3 years without any problem. But always use flip flops and never ever use the towels o soap what they offers to u. Always use my own towels and soap.

When I first went in they said they thought it was a infection, said it probably got it due to my psoriasis in that location as the entry point. They did blood work and came back with the bursitis.

I'm not a doctor so I assume it's a infection but after looking on google its saying a inflammation.

You can't get an infection from a towel unless you have an open wound AND they didn't wash or dry the towel well. Temps inside a dryer can get well above 135 degrees, enough to kill most bacteria. That would kill the bacteria not killed by the washing process. The soap they use would kill most of it before it ever saw the dryer.

I think you people are having medical issues and trying to blame it on a shower. Get real.
