The guy you highlighted talked to me for about an hour. He used to haul campers and he told us what he was hauling and how he ran and his setup.

 

Why sell yourself short? Contrary to popular belief it's not the Swift's of the world who bother me. I've hauled enough exceptionally well paying loads from megas to know they know what they're doing.

You don't even know what these guy's are talking about and you are a painter saying you are a trucker. It's guys running illegal they are talking about. To run you must have a DOT and MC# and insurance and these guys have no insurance or DOT or MC# and this cost us. Just one of my trucks run around $11,000 per year and we must have permits to run some states and in OR we must post a $2,000 bond so we can't make a living running for rates as low as 50 cent per mile so we set and those illegals grab the loads and go. Most of these guys on this board have families to feed also truck payments plus around $1,000 a month for insurance. If one of these illegal transporters hit your little paint carrying truck and you find out he has no insurance then you will come on here crying, "I'm out of work and my truck is totaled and I can't feed my family or make house payments, why do they let these illegal guys run" You might understand then but I don't know. Being legal is one of the guarantees for being successful but guys like you don't understand, do you?

Yes there are, start with FedEx Custom Critical or another expedite company or a local courier company.

Don't be cheap and expect to move something for less than it would cost you in gas to move it.

As I was watching the show "Shipping Idiots" on A&E the other day (the pilot) and listening to the little segments with the CEO of Uship, it confirmed my thinking that his company is a brokerage company and nothing else. Then last night watching "Shipping Idiots" on A&E, I now understand why I wouldn't ever want these people to haul anything I owned or even my dog's poo because they are truly idiots and make all of us look stupid.

 

I don't think the guy needs to pay a premium rate to someone like critical for expedite service. He could call around YRC, Old Dominion, ABF, FedEx FREIGHT or any LTL carrier with ops in CA and they'd probably be happy to give him a quote if he knew the weight and size of what he was moving. It'd be a lot cheaper than FedExCC. Might even be surprised at how cost effective it would be, shop it...
