He was Bump Drafting...
Seriously though, if anyone gets that close to your bumper the odds are through the roof that they are idiots and are going to try and pass you.
The RIGHT thing to do: when the truck on the right starts pulling ahead of you signal that you intend to get back over. If the guy behind you decides to go around you then let him. It will take him longer to pass you on the right then to wait for you to get out of the way. If you make it a laughable experience then he goes on his way and you get your amusement for the day.
Good luck...safe driving!
was I wrong to be in left lane?

With most 4-wheeler's, it seems if you slow up to let them in, they slow up.

Good job....I do the same thing. I'm "old school" and was taught that way and have always done it. Most drivers don't. You'll move over to let them on and then they end up "racing" you in their 65 mph truck. Lousy trainers produce lousy drivers.
It was a courtesy that the driver moved to the left to let me on. I return the courtesy by letting him pass me, signal him back in and then move on around him in the left lane, if I need to.Last edited: Mar 29, 2009

yep this has happened to me lots of times. Most 4 wheelers are so scared of our big trucks they get nervous and indecisive when all they usually have to do is speed up a little or slow down a little and ive finally come to appreciate the 4 wheelers that want to make it hard on themselves will and the ones that have a brain will usually get in without a problem

" I check my mirror, and theres a red KW far back(3 or 4 truck lengths estimated). A couple seconds later, I rechecked the mirror to see if the red KW was coming fast"
so by the time you looked the 2nd time he was 2 or 3 lengths i assume?so to me seems like you made him get on his brakes to keep from getting on yours.i myself will not slow another driver down like that.i will hit my brakes.but if he was a courteous driver who paid attention he would have backed out of it without you making him to allow the space for you.some people have that gotta go attitude and if you slow them down you are killing the cherry master time at the truckstop.feel sorry for them instead of letting them make you mad.they will be the one with high blood pressure or a heart attack in a few years.panhandlepat Thanks this.
