Safety record is in the 40's, A middle of the road company compared to ALL companies....now go back to smoking your dope.
This is me. I think I'm going to do exactly the same. I live in WI and they are a bunch of trucking companies around here but I want to go to Stevens for the training and the good equipment. I too am planning on going to a school of my choice first.
Their safety ISS number is a 91.....100 being the worst possible. I use the numbers from the safersys.org website Can't believe every noobies dreamed up statements !!!! Facts are facts !!!!
Every training company has a poorer than average safety rating. They're all new drivers. They're going to make mistakes. They're going to go bump. Companies that hire only drivers with two or more years experience have already weeded out the poor drivers. They're going to have better ratings. Just the way things work. My statement was 'Stevens drivers are in demand after they've completed their training and one or two years of driving.' This is true. Those drivers have gone thru the 'start up time' and survived. The thing that makes Stevens drivers safe and in demand are the habits they instill in you such as following distance, GOAL, take your time and check your situation out...plan your route, log as you go... all good traits and skills. Companies that give you two weeks with a trainer that's been driving only 6 months are not exactly the shining stars. Yes, I drive for Stevens. I don't train. I'm not a newbie. I have met with hundreds of former Stevens drivers over the years and they all told me they valued what they were taught when they started out at Stevens and figured it was a major advantage to their getting the job they had now. I know a month doesn't go by that another company doesn't contact me (often more than one) trying to recruit me. They all tell me the same thing: We concentrate on taking drivers from Stevens because they're trained well.
That number is NOT a safety rating if you would read the web site. It is an inspection value, which does not hold true. If Stevens was truely a 91 out 100, I would be pulled into every Weigh Station. I get the green light over 90 percent of the time, and the 10% I get the red, I roll across the scale and truck on down the highway.. Now the actual Safestat score is 42 for driver, and 39 for vehicle.... 75 is deficient. There are the facts for you dope smoking hippie who obviously does not understand facts, and only bashes companies.
Hey, Hippie. I notice you're posting on all the Stevens threads, often not very positive. What's your beef? Why all of a sudden do you taunt these posts?
You won't see me posting on Stevens anymore............................... enjoy.........................
like i said , stevens works for some people and worked for me while i was there . i made some great friends and some are still driving for them . my only desire is to get new drivers to really think hard before chosing stevens because home time is really tuff during those 11 or 12 weeks of training .
